I have to agree with the original poster, Riga is very good.

A few baht tip, and a couple of drinks and you are ensured a hassle free time.

Despite what some say, it is always a good idea to look after the mamsan, you never know when their help will be needed.

(PogueMahone @ Jan. 24 2007,03:08) The best Mamasan to have ever worked in the LB Bars in Nana is "Mamasan Tac" formerly of Obsession Bar and Cascade Bar.  Now she is the Mamasan at the Lady Bar to the the right of Temptation Bar.  She was always ready to help me, no attitude and when she would would sit with me I was never bothered by the LB'S looking for an easy mark.  Top class lady in my book and whenever my "sweetie" and I are back in Bangkok we always stop by her bar and say hello.  One of the best pieces of advice I ever got from the late, great Jon/Jai Dee was to make friends with the Mamasan of the two tops LB Bars in Bangkok, it made things a lot easier for us guys.  Good advice to pass along to the "Newbies" just coming on the scene in Bangkok.

In my opinion Tac is the best and most professional mamasan in Nana Plaza. She is also teaching new and becomming mamasans how to do the job. She works in Fantasia bar, on the right side of the entrance to Temptations. She told me, she would love to go back to being mamasan in an LB bar, more fun there, she said.
I have not spoken to Riga yet, in Obsession bar I usually sit and have a drink with Bee, the other mamasan in there, the gay man/femboy mamasan, whatever you want to call it. I still know Bee, from the time, when Tac was teaching him how to do the mamasan job, in Cascade bar. But I think that Obsession bar is really managed very poorly and it's no wonder customers seem to enjoy the different atmosphere in Guess bar. I have witnessed it several times, and it even happened to me, that some ladyboys just lost it inside Obsession bar and started going on some nasty rant towards a customer and both mamasans did absolutely nothing to protect the customer!

Riga is very good -- she saved me from an annoying drunk one night, and I hadn't even asked her to.

But Tac is still #1, she let me take photos all the time . BTW, Tac doesn't like working at Lady bars and says being Mamasan of a LB bar is much more fun. I hope she comes back.

It's a relatively minor point, and I doubt she would even care what we call her, but Tack is a manager, the person ultimately responsible to the owners for the efficient management and operation of the bar. As such she would have one or more mamasan's reporting to her. The owners usually move managers (and mamasans, cashiers, service staff) around periodically so that they don't get too comfortable, and revenue (turnover) performance is important. I'm surprised Tack hasn't been rotated to another property as she has been at Fantasia for at least a year? Maybe she's doing a great job where she is? It's a job which requires long hours, plenty of paperwork and a reasonable amount of labor-management strife. It'd be a fun job for about 30 minutes (evaluating new hires).

there are a good many idiots getting into the LB bars these days who show now respect for the LB's & treat them like some kind of circus freak side show. As far as i am concerned they deserve the tantrums & shouting matches they induce. Its a pity there aren't more "If in doubt, lights out Janets about", the Cascade kick boxer. But i do agree some mamasans are hopeless.

Are you refering to the Bar owners as in getting into the LB business or the customers as in "Coming into the bars"?

Its not the bar owners, or the GG's / LB's so much, chat to the old hands GG / LB / mamasan alike you will get the same story. The quality of the "new" farangs is much lower than the old farts.

There has been a huge influx of Eurotrash drunks over the last few years, & they were at satuartion point in Pattaya over the 9 days I just visited. Loud, vulgar, drunk & hurling abuse at passers by every now & then for no apparat reason. During the new year period they were lighting & chucking some serious fireworks into the street regardless of who may have been walking up at the time. They do not appear to be here to enjoy the GG's & LB's just get drunk on cheap drink. The ones who make it into the Go's Go's don't appear to be tipping or barfining the GG's  &  / or LB's. This obviously makes too bigger dent in there beer token pile, & I over heard one group say they don't pay for sex, when the mamasan tried to explain the deal.

This incident happened right under my nose about 2 years ago in Cascades, maybe longer, Janet was sat between 2 young lads, who i decided were Ozzies by the sound of there accents. One suddenly jumped up & shouted its a man, Janet could never be described as passable, as nice as she is, so what these 2 were doing in there with her who knows. He then punched her! Well I am sure you can imagine what happened next, basically they both got flattened as his mate decided the 2 of them could sort her out....wrong!

GG / LB tantrums normally come to light to the observer once what ever incident has taken place to trigger it has passed, so all you see is the GG / LB tantrum. Its takes 2 to tango, the observer rarely sees all of the incident just the racket from the GG / LB tantrum thats suddenly drawn his attention. There are, without doubt, some on a shorter fuse than others which doesn't help.

I, & a good few other forum members rarely have any problems, but have witnessed a few, why are we not having problems & others are, I am a major butterfly & go with who I choose, not the Wolfpack, surely this is tantrum inducing stuff. Attitudes vary immensely to P4P workers & whether some are preapred to admit it not, they induce alot of there own problems.  

You will have to decide for yourselves whether it is you or the GG / LB thats causing the problem.
