  • What I Love About Thailand

I have to contemplate a life changing decision in the new year so I sat down the other day and made a couple of lists.

What I love about the UK and
    what I Love about Thailand

I am sure you are not interested in the former so here goes about Thailand:

    1. Bangkok - The most fascinating, invigorating city i have been to. The traffic, the shops, the food, the complete buzz of the place.

2.Hua Hin - A gorgeous resort I could while away my weekends.

    3. Ladyboys - wow, where do you start from the fab Anna to the wonderful Sasa and all in between, including a couple of strange ones! There is nowhere in the world where the 3rd sex quite takes centre stage.
Femboys to full post ops, the choice is endless, and the possibility of meeting non- workers too.

    4. Cascades and Obsessions and Bigdogs.
I know it would probably be different if (and when) i live here but i do like the shitpits. A definite paralell universe where anything goes.

    5. The Climate. The heat, the rain, the tropics!

    6. The Cost of Living

    7. The guys I have met there from this forum.

    8. Pattaya and Chiang Mai and Phuket and the chance to discover the real Thailand.

I think living in Bangkok could be the best thing I ever do and it could also be the worst.

Guys let me know your thoughts on this please.

But is all the above just an illusion because you are in "vacation mode" and the reality is very different?

      Hmm funny you post this....
I have been for the past 2 months or since coming back from BKK....considering going to LOS for 1 year while still getting paid a half salary from the states just to sit on my ass and party.  Very tempting but so much to consider....

Losing half my salary but on the other hand making half and living in LOS, but
      What about the Visa issue?
Living costs, for food and shelter... (exclude the LB costs)

Could it be done or am I dreaming?

Course if I stay in the states ..I would consider going to LOS for 2 months vacation instead.

I will do 1 of those 2 options but which?
Any thoughts from you all on here or PM or both would be great.  Thanks in Advance

The thoughts of a foolish old romantic...go for it boys...you certainly don't want to sit someday in some old wheelchair under some old elm tree and think "only if"...

"Nothing can bring back the hour..."

There may indeed be something in your "vacation mode" concept KL...however, you can always buy the return ticket back to the UK early...but you can't ever "bring back the hour..."

Just do it, mate! Seriously, if you get paid half your salary for shagging your brains out in LOS - well the answer is a no-brainer!
... and to KL: I'd sign everything you've mentioned above. That's what it is - just great! The only illusion might be that the costs of living are that cheap. Of course they are compared to London, NY or Tokyo - they aren't compared to what you might or might not spend on a 2 weeks holiday. If you have to make a living there - things can become pretty realistic pretty soon. LOS is probably the greatest place on earth to spend money - it's quite a tough one if you have to earn it over there!
So if anyone has the oportunity to jump on a corporate wagon, who pays you western salary plus housing - just take it whatever stupid job this might be and even if your wife leaves you (she will leave you anyway, after a couple of weeks in LOS ).
If you have to set up your own business over there make sure you know exactly what you're doing and your fundings are not too limited. Seriously, life aint cheap in LOS if you want a certain (western) standard!

          Good luck,

              1) The people - They really are the friendliest people in the world

              2) The food - Thai food is great, cheap and available at anytime of the day. But there is also great Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese and Western. Too bad there is no good Mexican.

              3) Transportation - The buses and domestic flights are cheap, easy to book and go everywhere. Its really not that hard to go to Phuket for a last minute weekend trip.

              4) You are in Asia ! a Tad bored ?....go to Vietnam or Hong Kong or Cambodia, Nepal, Bali..........

              5) No Fat Chicks

KL and others that mentioned "vacation mode" is pretty true. I now live in Hawaii and many customers that I take scuba diving always say.."they actually pay you to do this"? I do find myself most days saying..."wow, it would be fun to be a tourist here".........visting versus working and trying to make a living while also trying to be part of the community is WAY DIFFERENT from visiting Hawaii....and keep in mind that this still is the USA..same language, government, laws, etc. I rarely play golf, sit around drinking pina coladas, or sit at the beach working on my tan......all the things I do when on vacation. So "real life" is indeed way different from "vacation life".......I lived in Belgium and Norway for a year each place....same deal....fun to visit, very different to live. This being said........I too am considering a move from this island to LOS......First thing I want to make sure of is...can I afford it without having to work at all and what lifestyle can I have without working. If I can find work...then that is a "bonus" income....but I'd want to be completely independent and not have any stress regarding finances. Can I establish a ST/LT ladyboy budget and keep within it? Good question........time to crunch the numbers I guess..............Aloha
                      ....so,  you're really a guy?..............

Moving here doesn't mean that you suddenly have to look for a meaningful relationship and 'adjust' to living abroad. Just whore like normal till you get tired of it then do something different.

For me this has been a five year vacation. Work a little, play a little and rest a lot!

There are a few people that I know who cram more shagging/travelling/drinking in two weeks than I have done in half a decade, but then I'm not in a rush to do anything.

And that's the great thing about my life now... I have added twenty healthy years to my life by never having to be in a hurry for anything again!

No deadlines for work, no wife and kids to feed, no rushing my beer because the bars close every time I get thirsty, no running for buses...

If you are making lists of the pros and cons of living in the UK or anywhere and Thailand then you are not serious about moving. I never ever listen seriously to anyone who says "One day I will... blah de blah de blah!"

You are doing it now or you won't ever.

What's funnier are the people who want to retire here! What a wasted life that is. You really mean you want the last crappy years of your life in a third world shit hole with your energy already spent on saving a few shekals so you can afford to!

Doesn't make sense at all to me. You should be here when your energy and enthusiasm is at it's peak, not when you are a fading old fart.

"But I have too much to lose if I leave my job/family/earning potential!" I hear you say... Fine by me. I'll keep a seat warm for you, then, OK?

Words are cheap. Do it or plan to do it. Don't fool yourself that you'll 'one day move to a better life' because you and I both know that it's never gonna happen.

Hold it...now you're treading on thin ice Stogie...or thin kahuna...the fading old fart...

Just because some of us didn't discover the joys of Thailand and ladyboys until advanced age dosen't make us funny...Foolish maybe...

Well, OK funny perhaps...but not wrong...Save all your money so you can die someplace warm is good advice ...

I for one can't think of any place better to die then in the arms of one of these lovely soft warm skinned ladies...

I wish that I had discovered Thailand and ladyboys when I was young like KL and you...but I didn't...So now I'm gonna have a happy childhood in spite of my age...It's never too late I tell myself...Although it probably is...

I suppose we are both telling KL the same thing...Don't wait until you are old like me KL...Go now while you're young and full of life...While you can smell and breath and taste what gives you joy...

There will be plenty of time in your years to come for other things when you are a fading old fart like me..."...in some old sweater with some old dreams..."

                            Very true!
If it's somehow possible for you, then go! No matter what age. I did it over 10 years ago, but had to move back and I'm sure I'll do it again, even if I'm an old fart then - who cares, I certainly not! Of course it's fantastic if you're at the peak of your energy, but I'd also prefer to spend my last days between those cuties, than in a bloody nursing home in the bloody cold west!
... and the good thing about getting older must be that you don't do condoms over 70 anymore...

the thing i really like about thailand is that i have so many options. i can choose from the top-shelf whatever i want, whenever i want. of course it does help that i am in holiday mode, but the longer i stay the more i enjoy it. its like a drug, i get more and more addicted to it. you could say its mainly the sex, but after a while i discovered other things that i enjoy doing. one thing i miss though from when i was a newbie, is that i have got jaded. i dont enjoy visiting the bars as much as i did before. and after seeing and fucking so much pussy and ass, it isnt much that get me excited as it used to do. and what amazes me, is that when i stay in falangland i do really miss the bars and the buzz, but after 2 or 3 days, the excitement is over and i prefer use my phone to meet my sex-partners, and only visit the bars to get wasted (hmm try to have 2 dry days every week )

even though i rarely eat anything except thai food when i stay in los, i sometimes
get the cravings for mexican, but i have to agree, none of the places i have visited so far can match anything i have from my local restaurant. i have tried mikes(?) between pattaya and jomtien, one place in pattayland and the place in soi 7. also a place outside patpong and the fastfood outside the bars in soi 2 pattaya. the only thing i found satisfactory was the tacos and the salsa sauce .. i dont remember which place. so when in thailand, do as the thais .. actually i think most farang food taste abit strange in thailand ..
