Additionally, in my opinion, posting pictures of people engaging in (unless they are professionally taken and thus both parties have presumably satisfied each other of their bona fides) un-safe sex should be banned. It only encourages more of this stupid behaviour.
you are a little control freak arent you? 10 posts and already starting talk about what should be allowed or not. are you an exile eastern-german maybe??
im not sure looking at bareback pics will encourage more unsafe sex, would you put your uncovered dick where the scab infested dick of billy has been ??
Sorry, it was a bit strong wasn't it. I have a straight male friend who died of AIDS and I take it pretty seriously. I cannot and will not comment on the condition of Billy's dick.
(mardhi @ Sep. 04 2006,23:47) Thats an interesting analysis - Can you explain what you were doing there and in what capacity? Furthermore can you explain how the ministry of health has any right to break the Thai constitution which makes HIV testing something entirely of the persons own choosing. Its actually against the law for anyone in Thailand to demand HIV testing of an employee, although its widely abused. I think you need to provide a bit more information for your claims to have any credibility on your first post.
Cheers

Hello,
to clarify the information I posted yesterday on this topic I will give you the additional information you request.
From 1998 till 2003 I worked for the Thai Red Cross AIDS Research center and also held multiple workshops at Hospitals across Thailand.
Whenever I come to Thailand I always dedicate some time at the RC and visit HIV NAT camp. Last Year in May we where invited to participate in a public screening project conducted by the Thai Ministry of Public Health. At that time I was in Thailand and joined the team that was delegated to work on the project.
Most of the project work was conducted in the northern provinces which have higher infection rates then the central and southern regions. My job was two-fold with a mixture of field and lab work.
In regards to the test group in Nana Plaza I was called to oversee the application of HIV test kits which allow for results within 15 minutes. I am not aware of the legal proceedings of how the raid went down, but I was told that all girls had signed some kind of waiver. By the time I arrived there was already a crowd outside the bar and several police officers enforcing a strict no-entry/exit policy.
The tests where conducted in the bar itself while customers where asked to wait outside. After the results showed 2 Thai Doctors talked to the girls that where positive and urged them to come to Hospital for further lab testing to verify the results. The Manager was then questioned by the Thai police and taken to the station for further questioning.
marthi, I have send you an PM with the exact date of the raid and the name of the bar so that you can verify the information if you wish
@newwriter
yeah yeah, you had a friend die of aids ..
btw, you dont seem so innocent and careful yourself. let me quote you from the "LBs for a `first timer`"-thread:
...I have experimented with what I can take up my arse but as I look at the shots of the really hung lb's I realise what I really want to do is swallow - and you can't practise that at home alone...
should we allow to answer questions to those who want to practice unsafe sex too?
@ryanthom
how did you come across this site anyway and what is your agenda here? state your full name so anyone who bother to check if this holds water or not, can check with the thai ministry of health, and use your name as source. why all the secrecy if you're doing this for the sake of information?
Olekunde, it would be unreasonable for Ryanthom to "out" himself on a public board such as this. Although as an act of good faith he has PM'ed Mardhi, one of this boards Thai based Moddies.
the reason I come here is the same as most of you come here. I do like Ladyboys. It just happened to be that i posted on this topic after joining.
I have no agenda, and as i stated before only provide this as information only. There is no secrecy involved at all, the reason I did not post the name and date on the public forum should be commensense enough for you. As with all things on the internet, you may use this info or just plainly iqnore it.
In regards to my name, I would not ask anyone here to reveal their identity, so please do not ask me to do the same.
However if you want to know me, you can meet me in person as I will be coming to Bangkok on September 12th for 3 weeks on Business. I will gladly give you an uncensored tour of my line of work.

Thanks for the follow up RyanThom. Firstly let me clarify I am not doubting that this took place however I do have my own concerns at how this has taken place. I note your reference to disclaimers being signed which I highly doubt the girls understood or had any option but to sign in the circumstances. Its a shame almost that you were even party to this - I think had I been in your shoes, I would have refused on principal to participate due to the seemingly obvious breach of these people's rights under Thai law - by the sounds of things you were actually giving this illegal excercise some credibility.
On the flip side of this though is the fact that certainly to my knowledge this information has never been made public. Therefore if and assuming your quoting the correct information, it makes pretty bad reading, which is presumably why its not been made public.
Incidentally the testing of girls has often been very subjective and this just re-inforces this view - seemingly a HIV negative test result is as easy to obtain as sorting out a minor traffic violation by passing 200 baht to the person concerned.
To the board at large, the tests took place at one of the larger Thai owned gogo's in the plaza based on the information RyanThom supplied to me. I will try and double check this information for authenticity.
i was certain this would be the answer i would get, but i still think it is a bit suspicious when you say you have worked for the a worldwide organization and also for the thai government, and also trying to come across as serious while remain anonymous.
the numbers you presented was also very high, not even close to other studies. how accurate are these tests? are they reliable? if so, then we must assume over 1/3 over the girls in nana are hiv+, that's quite a huge difference from the around 4% other studies have shown.
for the only reason of liking ladyboys i can understand you want to remain anonymous, but you cannot really expect to be taken seriously as an anonymous poster when you dont even have any references to back up these numbers. but you got some attention, and maybe that's what is all about. let's wait and see what mardhi can find out.

AND
that's an interesting point- whether doctors would do an operation on a person who is hiv positive?
your 4-5% maybe accurate in other sectors, but not the pattaya LB scene. i'm not sure if i should be saying this but one day approx. 3 weeks ago 35 random LBs were given a free test in pattaya. they were a mixture of LBs (street/bar/cabaret girls). 22 were positive! the person who told me this has often said the overall figure is around 60%, and much more have other STDs.
I have a bit of trouble actually visualizing such a 'raid' ... perhaps I haven't been around the scene enough, but I would think most customers would leave in the time it would take to test 65 girls (you must draw blood, right?) ... The 60% figure seems high; how does that compare to, say, active homosexual communities in San Francisco (which I would think would be as high or higher)?
Assuming this is a correct figure, I guess you could still reassure yourself that most HIV+ people actually have very low viral loads (until they get full blown AIDS). The greatest concentration (80%) is in the gut, which is why anal sex is more dangerous. But sex is only really dangerous in the first month or so after your partner becomes HIV+

We did not draw lood with a syringe, we used a finger pricker which only draws one drop of blood which is then applied to a test stripe. Results are shown within 15 minutes, one stripe negative, two stripes positive, same like a pregnancy test.
Regarding Viral Loads you are wrong. Newly infected persons can have up to half a million copies per cubic milliliter of blood, which is about the same as end stage AIDS. The reason for this is the still active state of the CD4 cells which combat the virus after initial infection. Eventually after 3-6 months the viral load will drop to about 10k-100k if not on Retroviral treatmeant.
Unless you have <50 copies per cubic milliliter, which is virtually impossible without treatment then you are still highly contagious. In tests it has been confirmed that it
can take as little as 100 copies per cubic mililiter to infect another person.
