het guys i read all the old posts on bbk hotels and thought i would my take on why some of the members like the nana hotel..my first couple of visits to bangkok i stayed at better hotels.. the ramada down in the silom area.. the ambassador, and also the marriot.. i always went to NEP, but when i looked at nana hotel across the st, i always thought place looked like a real dump...
that all changed one night went i met a couple of english guys at a bar in the old clinton plaza.. these guys told me they always stayed at the nana and that hotel was a mini version of NEP.. that is to say there always action there... i met my new friends in angels disco one night and i had a great time...wow did we get drunk...we hooked up with some thai G girls and partied the night away... on my next trip i stayed at the nana and have stayed at the hotel every visit since...
sure the hotel is old... but it is clean and the staff is always freindly.. but the best thing i like about the nana hotel is that the hotel is 100% guest friendly.. you can bring whoever you want up to your room and you don't have to worry about nasty looks from the front desk or any other hotel staff member...it is place where you can 'melt' into the atmoshpere it is a hotel where you can be yourself and not worry about people passing judgement on you.. .. and guys that love LBs this hotel is 'ladyboy central'...
when i was there in may the nana was process in putting in a new pool which is added plus.. the rooms are okay, the beds are king size and room service is excellant.. also the hotel has a fantastic free breakfast buffet.. the nana coffee shop has some of the best food in bangkok.. simple food but good... and guys the lobby area is full of old timer ex-pats, espcially in the morning... i have had several good times sitting there in the lobby of the nana hotel, listening to the stories from the old guys that hang there drinking coffee, reading their bangkok post's. guys from all over the world that now call bangkok their home.... the nana may not be a four or five star hotel, but as the old timers told me many times the nana hotel hasn't changed with the times.. it place where if they know you at the front desk you just register, no credit card needed, no money up front... wow that is different.. i love the nana it is my hotel of choice in bkk... rod
