(bazzare @ Jun. 18 2006,00:48) i think thai people in genaral once they lose control they really lose the plot. they tend to go apeshit when they are angry.

once they cross that line when they no longer care about saving face, can be pretty dangerous territory.
Thats why its really important to not take streetwalkers as there is absolutely no come-back at all.

At least bargirls have to answer to the bar and mamasan and you know where to find them.

    Just my 0.02c
seriously pig headed, arrogant, double standard smart ass poster!

I would love to hear the other side of the story from the Ladyboys' point of view, i.e. about all the "Mentally Unstable Punters."

I would think that these girls must each have quite a few tails of bizarre punter behavior. I see how some farangs act in public in Pattaya after a few too many beers. I can just imagine their behavior is much worse in private (especially if they view these girls as merely inanimate sextoys).

shit  i have been going to thailand and philipines and indonesia  for the  last 24  years. i  personaly have never lost my temper in  any of these  places,  reason being i  am in rome so i do what the romans do.  i have however been on the end of some  incredible  outbusts  from girls and  ladyboys.  when you  way up the  whole sceen it is no wonder, locals blow up. every  day in thailand i see moronic  mental cases  form     the tourist side, ranting and  raving at  the staff of  hotels and  other establishments. in general the Thais  put up with more crap than any other   country in the world. i am ashamed to associate my self  with some of the idiots i see in the streets.
Having said that i have also been on the recieving end of some alarming behavior  form locals,   as bazzar  says   once they reach a point  there is no return.I call it the  point of  no return, when the  child in an adult  body  can no longer   hold it  together. in asia it is called running a  muck.if   somone in your  vacinity  reaches this point, step back  walk away  run if you have to. its  just not worth it. if you knock them out  you  get it  from the  police  if you hang around  you get smashed with an ash tray or any other object that comes to  hand.  better to  see it  comming  and walk.
we all go   for a holiday to enjoy our self, so if some degenerate is  going off  !local or tourist. walk away.
        cheers donnnnny the flash
just a sex tourist looking for hot fun

its all part of the excitment. i've had LBs banging on my door with jelousy (called security), nearly fighting me in a bar because i took our playing too far (she was soon kissing and grinding against me again), wouldn't leave my room (so after 3 hours of being nice i said fuck off. top tip- never tell a LB to fuck off even in the nicest way), random insults (e.g. i was leaving hi-boss after a ST and a different one got angry because i would have another ST with her), squaring up to me because i took another one from her bar, agreeing price then tripling it in room (and threatening to cry rape if i didn't pay).....
considering i've only been with about 30 LBs that sounds like a lot of shit. mix that with the ones i've turned down because of visible STDs, and i'm sure you'll understand why i'm not into LB hookers anymore.
now i'd much rather meet up with one girl and maybe stray a few times in a holiday- maybe not even to fuck others but just hang out with some. they are often very interesting people to be with imo

how many times have you seen of rows, arguments or petty conflicts being resolved in thailand with the use of weapons, especially in places like pattaya and ko samui.

if a thai is made lose face in front of others, its no suprise if they go and find a gun and put a cap in your ass to get revenge.they have a screwed up sense of right and wrong.

ive read and heard of several incidents where there were some farang/s in a bar , and a thai felt slighted in some way, words were said, people were drunk and some poor bastard got shot, for some trivial thing.

what happened in kanchanburi a while back where a thai cop shot and killed a farang and his girlfriend, is a case in point.the farang guy punched the cop first, little did he know that he had just signed his own death warrant.

there should be warning at the airport. piss off the thais at your peril,

So your lesson for the day and the rest of your life should be "Don't piss off Thais". I have 35 years experience with them and no one(except maybe my wife)has ever blown a fuse at me. 99% of the trouble a foreigner has with a Thai is created by the foreigner. Well maybe 98% since I just remembered a time in Patpong when I told a bargirl to get lost and she slammed my head into the mirror behind me. The mamasan made her bow down and wai me.

Its smart advice to avoid making trouble in any country. Doesn't matter if you're in Thailand or Tibet (err China). Making a mess in someone else's badyard is never a good way to end your trip.

I almost had a run-in with a group of about 5 or 6 Thai guys, their girlfriends, and whoever else would have come to their aid at Hollywood disco. I'll write the full incident in my trip report soon, but if Bk120 hadn't been there, things might have gotten ugly!

perhaps my perspective is colored by living in the wacky usa or working as a doctor in a major city, but i have seen people get shot, maimed, and/or killed for things just as trivial as those mentioned by the original poster.  however, it seems to me that thais have not cornered the market on strange behavior such as that listed above.  hell, i have personally treated or officially read the images for:

                    1. a guy who took two to the dome for stepping on another guy's shoes. (actually i stopped counting these kind of stories).

                    2. seen a multi family member trauma where a guy got made at a young teen so he decided to march into the teen's house and personally send the young man's entire family to hell.

                    3. cops behaving badly?  shoot i see that all the freaking time in the usa.

hell i could fill a book with stupid reasons to die.  i have personally seen or treated in the operating room, emergency department, and/or seen images for while on call in the ED so many senseless cases that this kind of stuff no longer phases me.  which in and of itself is a little sad.

                    as a side note:

fucking hell. my posts are getting more and more filled with typos. i will try to proof them better in the future folks, but i am writing on the forum at work. so the above has been edited.....cheers.

Thanks for putting it into perspective. Anyone who has spent measurable amounts of time in major urban cities in the US such as San Fran, LA, Chicago, NYC, or Miami knows that trivial acts of violence happen all the time. The Thais by no means have the market cornered on strange, and often violent, behavior.

This is not completely true. Westerners have a definite communication problem with Thais, who like most Asians never really are able to say yes or no. Westerners (especially Americans) get impatient when Thais stonewall or waffle, and if the try to get a straight answer, may push the Thais into a position where they lose face. I've had this happen several times where I have been negotiating a bit harder than I should, and the Thais have started getting upset ... Thais respond either by crying or by getting violent. Once they have it out of their system, they are fine. When they do get violent, you should emphasize that this is due to misunderstanding, that you are sorry, and stay calm (some times hard if someone is hitting or grabbing at you).

But to say that it's the Westerners who are wrong 99% of the time is incorrect IMHO. It's a difference in expectations and perceptions, and ways of communication.

I might add that I have had the greatest problems in Phuket, largely because the Thais in Phuket are especially greedy and dishonest (not typical of Thais anywhere else... even Bangkok). My solution is not to travel to Phuket, which is a shithole anyway IMHO

My only problem occurred during my last visit to Thailand back in November 2005. It happened at the point of entry. I had slept like a baby all the way from Hong Kong to BKK, got off the plane, stood in line for about 5 minutes, then as I was about to hand my passport over to the immigration officer I realized I had not picked up and filled out an immigration form. I apologized to the immigration officer (a woman) and asked for one. She huffed at me then practically threw the form at me. My fatal mistake was when I attempted to fill out the form right there at her station. She began screaming at me at the top of her lungs to go to the back of the line. EVERYONE within 50 meters saw the commotion. I quickly grabbed the form and hustled to the back of the immigration area to fill out the form. While I was filling out the form I contemplated filing a complaint. Reason got the best of me and I decided to just drop the whole thing. Next thing I know I'm handing her my passport and immigration form (yes, like a dumb-ass I got back into her line again). She stamped my passport, processed the form, and nodded for me to pass. It was as if the whole confrontation that occurred 3 minutes earlier had never happened... Very strange!

mainly molluscum, but also suspected herpes and warts. but the fact condoms aren't always a requirement is another worry with them.
