now, if someone may help me......  the JW is a little out of my price range, frankly, and i am tired of the Ruamchitt plaza; anyone know of another place in the 1500-2000B range  near Nana or  Cowboy which has a pool and no joiner fee? and, why do I hear so many mixed reports about the Nana?  some people say it is great like Oracle above, and some people tell me it is a shithole and not to stay there.  what's the deal with this place???

I love the Nana, mostly for the memories. I stayed at the Malaysian Hotel ( now a gay hotel) in the 70s...then all of the 80s, the good old Nana... I find now that I am older I want and can afford something nicer and cleaner... but the Nana is a fine place to hang your hat sometime in one's life...

majestic is very nice; many of the shots from this site have been taken there and i have stayed there many times; great location; but they have no pool.

i need a pool! I think the Omni may be a good place; i will look into it.

          thanks guys Jon

Silom Serene update, - booked it for US $38 nett per night through the 'net and it is excellent. Actually booked for two people but did not need to specify the name of the other occupant. Would have been difficult as I hadn't even met her at the time of booking. Anyway, staff are first class, - no funny looks, just pure charm all the way. Lady has to hand in the ID but the staff are very discreet and friendly. Probably because it's five minutes walk to Patpong. Noticed lots of other ID cards in the holding file next morning when my date picked hers up. Rack rate around 4000 Baht which gives an indication of the quality. Rooms very nice and clean and well furnished. Definitely recommend this place to anyone. It's on Silom Soi 3 (Soi Phipat).

I always stay at Omni Towers and am booked there again in 3 weeks time.
I find it good value for a one bedroom apartment and it's plenty private for whatever I want to do. Plus I use the gym and the pool in the day and find it a much better place to stay than the Nana for example.

I stayed in Omni suites also. Enjoyed visits from the excellent Nan...no problem. Giant suites...reasonable price. Good location.

                  Guys
I like to stay at the Tai-Pan Hotel.
it's on Sukhumvit Soi 23, litterally 2 mins walk from Soi Cowboy and they are guest friendly. Have even got me out of bother a few times when i have had a laydee in my room and one waiting downstairs! Quite a few times girls have turned up at my Hotels and been told by the porter/receptionist/security guard that I already have a guest!
Rooms are very good too, reckon on about 1500 baht upwards, Food is fantastic. Also has pool and gym etc, worth a look. www.taipanhotel.com

One place id avoid is Royal Benja on Soi 5. nice facilities etc but 500 TB extra charge for company, even if book double room and turn up alone!!

steve....I booked a friend into the Tai pan in May and he liked it and I thought the rooms were very nice. BUT....when he got his bill at the end of the week he was charged 600 extra per night for a joiner fee! we were both pissed at that raw deal......obviously this is something that you have to work out with the hotel at check-in time.

I really though guest fee's were only charged in Pooket; this was the first time that I heard of it in BKK. good location near soi Cowboy and nice rooms though.
