I think that many (especially those of us who are circumsized) may be a bit overly concerned.

(Wethair @ Jun. 13 2006,04:21) Way to many time without condom. LB and girls.

I guess about 75% of the LB never use condoms.
Your number sounds about right. Out of all the LBs I saw, around 70% offered or insisted in going bareback. It was a shocking number to me, but I guess there are others who have had similar encounters and experiences.

A porn producer in Bangkok told me that out of 300 girls and ladyboys whom applied for work and were tested for HIV, only 11 were positive. Most all of the girls were from the sex industry so that gives you a pretty good idea of what the real percentage is with sex workers in Thailand.

11 out of 300 would set it at being a 3.7% prevalence rate.. more then twice that of 2003's 1.5%

The report called Thailand the only "success story" in Asia, with an HIV prevalence rate of about 1.5% in 2003, AFX/Forbes reports. However, the report noted that only 51% of commercial sex workers in the country use condoms, according to AFX/Forbes

My personal experience is no sex worker I have been with either LB or GG has offered me to go BB for sex. It is possible that I dont give them a chance to offer it to me but I am surprised by the amount of offers some of the punters recieve.

What confirmed condom usage for me was working in Northern Thailand and volunteering in health Clinics in Isaan and seeing the destruction that HIV causes withing the family unit when the Thai husband decides to have some fun at the local Karaoke Bar and then infects his wife. The result is grandmother and grandfather looking after orphaned kids. Very sad, but thats Thailand.

I have a feeling where there are western guys with Thai sexworkers the rate of infection could be lower than Thai on Thai upcountry. However no evidence to prove.

I used to go bareback all the time with Asian women + one Indon ladyboy(1989) oral only but not since 1992(one dose too many made me change my mind and attitude), for me the risk nowdays is just not worth it, you never know who is HIV positive and who isn't.
Oral however is an entirely different matter.

Although this thread seems to have moved to a fear of HIV - Personally I would be more worried about Hep C - no cure and no treatment, unlike HIV which is now considered as a chronic manageable condition. Neither are the sort of souvenirs you want to be taking back with you, but Hep C is more concerning to me simply based on ease of acquiring it and no treatment options.

                      Cheers

                        hep c has no treatments?

i am sorry but this is misleading. there are treatments available for both hep-c and hiv. none of them are a cure. also, despite our best efforts, many people do progress to liver failure and require transplantation following the chronic phase of hep-c.

i treat these patients all the time, rather let me rephrase that...i interpret the 4 phase liver studies they get to evaluate their livers for possible HCC all the time. those damn things are a pain in my arse.

(grunyen @ Jun. 12 2006,13:49) I noticed a couple gyus mention getting the clap despite using a condom. That's a little scary. What exactly are the symptoms, how bad, and is it curable? (permanently curable) or is it one of those that you have forever after with just supressed symptoms?
I was geting a masage from a genetic girl in Bangkok and we decided to go all the way. I noticed that she seemed unusually wet and figured she was using vaginal lube or I am very hansum man.

Now i could have touched my dick with the gooey stuff when I was taking off the condom or perhaps it even went thru the condom.

Cipro clears it up so it's not really a big deal.
