Phuket Update

Hey Guys,

Just back from Songkran in Phuket.

Cocktails & Dreams is for sale. Ning-Nong says it is not because it is losing money, but just because they are getting old for the bar scene. I think that is true, however, it clearly has a lot of low nights. The location is just awkward for guys who feel somewhat shy to visit a LB bar (because it isn't in the midst of lady bars, as it was before).

Amy and Nicki of C&D, and Jeab of Soi Katoey now work in a ladies bar in Tiger. Jenny of C&D is looking to moving there too. I spoke to the owners. As a lady bar it was doing so-so. They brought in Amy and Nicki as dancers and income improved 10,000 Baht/day. From what I saw, it was packed at late hours every night. Bluntly, "ladies can't dance", a direct quote, and "ladyboys dance like fire".

Songkran was wild as usual and I have some great shots of near naked, soaking wet ladyboys. Life is rough. Will post tomorrow.

It seems to me, the LB population in Phuket is INCREASING. For 5 nights in a row I did a test. Walking down Bangla, I had to walk a maximum of 40 steps before I saw Ladyboys. Later at night it is more like 20 steps. There were many, many, many walking the street these last 2 weeks.

I learned something new this trip. Did you know there are several muslim Ladyboys working in the bars. Not 1, not 2, but try perhaps 10+?

Because Phuket is southern Thailand one will find more Muslims among the population. GG's also are sometimes Muslims in Phuket.

Not happy about the location, i will have to use ozzie as my cover, as iv jus found out my other STRAIT NON LADYBOY LIKEING FRIENDS will be there.. I will be there to help ozzie his transition We didnt have to use it in Melbourne, but the plan looks like its coming good....

These are words that saddens me. I have tremendously great memories of C&D, and the place without Ning-Nong and Nick would simply not be the same.

However, a couple of months ago, on one of the threads here, we all had a discussion on "what an ideal LB bar should be like", and from the observations, C&D had a lot that was right with the board members. Perhaps this is a golden opportunity for ATS to truly set up a "ATS Clubhouse". Think about it, the infrastructure is there, the goodwill is there. I would gladly contribute to a "fund raiser" to actualise this dream........ what do you all say guys? and girls?

Jackc, I get  bad feelings like you about this bad news of C&D.  

Just  4 weeks ago there I got this words via e-mail from Patong:

so, tell me jackc, i love the idea, but what's the cost on taking over a bar like c&d? do Nick and NingNong own that new space (which apparently has not worked out well) or are they renters? what would be involved with a 'corporate takeover' by MOATS ('members of asian TS)? would we assume the lease or buy title to the property? business license difficulties? leave N &NN's names on whatever's there (as figureheads with 'free drinks for life') and just take over the managing (maybe each new owner has to 'run the bar' for two weeks each year, meaning we'll need 26 'owners'...), or?
yeah, i'd be interested.
it could tie in well with a villa/hq in phuket which would be home for the revolving 'managers'. (yeah, i've still got that burr up my ass!) what a GREAT reason to have to return regularly to phuket. (like I need more reasons!!)
so...anybody want in to MOATS?
what say jack c, just need 24 more guys with $(fill in the blank) buy-in and 2 weeks a year in-residence duties - mostly hosting duties i'm guessing if we have a good (mostly the same?) staff run things...
of course i may be crazy...

I'm up to listen to some particulars...I've wanted to visit Phuket for several years (just an old beach bum) but only recently discovered ladyboys...I'll be there next month for a couple of weeks and hope to explore the island (and several young ladies)...I was planning on moving to hawaii but who knows.....

Count me in to listen to any proposal....

Sad news about C&D, had a lots of fond memories there. Ningnong and Nick have been great hosts and most of all, great friends. Those long coffee afternoon with Nick were most enjoyable. Talking about all things from ladyboys to Thailand, to ladyboys...

Question if I may: How do you distinquish who the Muslim ladyboys are? Also, any photos?

Looking forward to your Songkran Photos, and will be monitoring the C&D/ATS Clubhouse Project.
