I was in BKK as part of my travels last year but was actually seeing a GG who took me to some pretty cool Thai clubs.

Anyway I was wondering how Lbs are treated by the locals, can they tell they are Lbs? Do they get looked down upon? Will they go to 'normal' clubs or only stick to Lb bars etc.

The Thais will know unless your ladyboy is extremely passable. You shouldn't have any problems though. I never have.

In my own experiences I have found that for the most part Thai people could care less. There have been a few occasions when the local upcountry habbo looks and snickers but one look from me right into his shit eating eyes and he quickly goes away. I take my sweetie everywhere and I am very proud to show her off. After all, she is drop dead gorgeous and carries herself like a lady at all times. Oh, one caveat for me, I did not partake of LB'S who look too much like a guy trying to look like a lady. The more passable the better.

The bigger problem is with yourself whether you feel self conscious or out of place. The best thing to do is enjoy yourself and don't worry what other people think because most of the time the time,as others have said, they couldn't care less.

I figure that once I get there, I only know one person in all of LOS and the chances of him even being there are extremly slim. Other than him, no one else knows me or who I am so why worry what people are thinking! I'll be too busy having a good time to even stop and think about what others are thinking!

If you take a ladyboy, and want to take a lady and she seen you with a ladyboy she will most likly have a laugh of it, tell all the others in the bar, they laugh of you, and then she go with you.

Many places, exspesially in Phuket, they are not allowed to enter the big discos. Sometimes in the low season, but not high season.

It's location dependent.

In Bangkok, locals treat LBs as ladies.

In Phuket, many LBs are not treated so great by locals. You will not see it. It is "how" they speak, a look in the eye, other small things. You will think everything is wonderful (as I did), until, you have a LB who tells you what's really happening.

The North, Bangkok, and the South, are like 3 countries.

But in Bangkok, where you most likely go, LBs are ladies. And if they look like shit and a hooker, they are treated like it, lady or LB, the gender is not important in Bangkok.

I don't really have a problem wondering around with & hanging out with an LB or transexual, its the rest of the world that seem to have a bit of a hang up about it all, especially the west. Quite often they are seen as a threat, western women struggle with the concept of a bloke being better looking, better figured & better at sex than some of them can ever hope to be. The Western guys struggle with the fact that they are finding a bloke attractive. If some of these prejudices could be over come life would be alot easier for these people.
I agree with what has been said about location as well, it does all depend where you are. Phuket used to be the play ground of the rich & is probably the family destination of choice in the LOS. It si now within easy grasp of the package tour masses ( & drunken idiots unfortunately ) & has lost alot of its cudos
LB's often suffer from a view that they are all criminals & not to be trusted. This has an element of truth as anyone who has walked on Pattaya beach & Patong beach late at night can testify. But just as many GG's steal rob & do drugs.
We are a long way from the total acceptance of the 3rd gender.

QBar is ok. I have never been to QBar WITHOUT a LB. The only stares are because she is so better looking than the fat, badly dressed, foreign women.

the premise is simple....if you care what people have to say about you....youll never have fun in your vacation...so be happy, stop listening to what others have to say or have to react about you...and ENJOY yourself...they're not spending for your vacation, YOU ARE!

You hit the nail on the head there, I was watching the "fat badly dressed foriegn women" staring at the LB's strutting there stuff down Soi Crocodile last light, you could see the envy in there faces. But of course they couldn't bring themselves to buy them a drink & have a chat.
