I wouldn't get too concerned. Last night I drank in Phuket until 2:30 AM. It's basically open until the last customer goes home.

These things come and go, and when the tourists stop, the laws are never publicly revoked, their implementation is just relaxed.

stop the world i want to get off!? before i used to have great pleasure drinking at a 24 hour bar in patpong ,watching the world go by untill 6 in the morning then two years ago they f**cked it up with the 2 am rule, now midnight   not even at 7-eleven why do the thais have an obsession with wanting to be like the western world ? its turning into a nanny state  looks like the philipines in future for me if things in los get any worse!? yes there will still be somewhere to find a secret drink but you will pay double as you have to during the buddhist lent. THAKSIN IS A

As usual - loads of hogwash being spread about!

Last night me and two mates left Cascades at 1AM and went to Obsessions. We got served beers a few minutes after 1AM and left the club at about 1:20. I asked the mamasan what time they close and she coyly replied "When the police tell us to!"

At 2AM we went to a family mart and bought two beers... later I went to a 7/11 convenience store at about 3:30AM bought a bottle of Scotch, 4 beers and two bags of ice...

The open-air bars all up and down Sukhumvit are open for booze and food till daybreak.

If you want to hear horror stories about Thailand then go to ThaiVisa.com. Future inaccurate postings on this forum will be deleted without comment. Frankly I'm tired of hearing this crap.

Thailand is open for business and nothing will ever change that. It doesn't matter what the law is!

Ditto. I left the bars in Phuket at 2:30AM and they were still hopping. Last night left Nana at about 1:15 or so, and as with Stogie, had a few on Sukhumvit, in front of the police box at the corner. There was a thriving crowd until 3AM.

                Lets say it was True.
Midnight to 2am = Two (2) hours, TWO FUCKING HOURS. If two hours is going to wreck your night of drinking then you have some real personal problems.
Put the beer down and put some fucking Tits and Cock in your mouth instead.
Can't believe I just gave this thread the Time of Day.

Ha ha! Nice one. But late hours are not just about drinking.

Actually I would love the bars to close at midnight. A much more civilised time of night to go LB hunting.

I understand your feelings here Stogie. Personally however I believe that these are community announcements that are important here as it gives guys in the know and on the ground such as yourself and Ziggy and whoever is in LOS at the time to either confirm or deny the rumours or stories.

Otherwise guys will believe what they read as they would not have any reason not to.

Yes, ozzie, you are right. I tend to overreact to these daft "announcements" becasue I am concerned that people will read them and think that they are true.

The truth is that prostitution is illegal in Thaland and there is a manned police box about 20 yards from NEP and over 1,000 working bargirls!

The bars should close at 1AM but they don't and many more bars actually open at this time and there are several discos going on till daybreak!

It is likely that the convenience stores will stop selling liquor in the new year, but you can be sure the enterprising Thais will find a way around this. And how may tourists will this actually effect!

So - actually you are right... keep posting the rubbish they like to sell on ThaiVisa.com and I'll continue to post the truth about what is going on over here!

Truth is that the bars DO close at 1 or 2 am! Truth is that a couple of years ago I stayed there until the morning hours. If anybody was around in the mid/end nineties he knows the HUGE difference!!! Of course some of them stay open 1 hour longer and you have a couple of nice after-hour bars, like the one on the roof at soi1/corner sukh. But I'm just pissed by any kind of nonsense regulations that limits my party nights! When a club is rocking (actually it normally just starts to get nice around 1 or 2am and suddenly they turn on the lights, I'm so pissed I can't tell!!! And of course the alcohol thing will be the same. Why do you think they won't execute it? They do it with the closing hours, they will do it with the alc! Since this sensless bloody motherfucker Thaksin is around they came up with all that shit. "War against Drugs" - what the fuck?!!! Pee controls in the clubs, etc....
Of course it's Thailand and they will always find a way around and a kind of interpretation and bribery and all that - but still, my fun is limited and I DON'T FUCKING LIKE THAT!!!!!!!

I was in Bangkok tonight and there are discos and bars open all night. No limited fun here, Mai-Kee!

I was out in BKK Friday, Saturday, Sunday, day & night, it all appeared as usual trawled NEP, Patpong, Soi Cowboy business as usual, plenty of GG's & LB's, managed 5 LB's & 2 GG's. NEP shut down between 0100-0130hrs, I didn't stay in the other areas mentioned till closing time. Other watering holes stayed open well beyond 0100hrs & the usual street eating & drinking was taking place on the Sukumvit, NaNa, Soi 4 area

I am in Chiang Mai at the moment, only trawled last night, didn't see too much, one or two nice LB's about & some nice GG's, this is no BKK, Pattaya or Phuket / Patong, but it is very nice much cheaper, local people slightly more friendly & less hard sell, but spoilt by the mass of back packers & package tour tourists.
Backpackers most annouying sitting in bars sharing bottles of beer & making them last hours, & staring at people enjoying local company. If you cannot afford to come here don't bother! & if you don't like whats going on, go somewhere else! No doubt thery are on some great mission / quest to "find themselves". May I suggest finding themselves in Mindanoa in the Phillippines, considerably less commercial than any where in Thailand, alot more dangerous, more of a find yourself exercise & very, very, cheap & stop annouying the locals & the rest of us.

Having difficulty logging onto or even opening AsianTS forum, I think the providers aren't too keen on this sort of thing.
