I can't speak to the "going rate" but I can bluntly state what I just did on my 23 day tour of BKK, Pattaya and Phuket, from which I'm still recovering. These prices do NOT include drinks, taxis, meals, or other gifts or shared activities. These are "cash only" totals:

"Short-time" (1-3 hours actually alone with the girl in my hotel room, NOT including travel time, drinks at bar and what-not): 1000-1540 thb (sometimes barfine additional, though having their phone numbers and calling them "off-hours" usually dodged that one).

"Short-time with 2 ladyboys" (1 hour in my hotel room - only did this once this trip, in pattaya, as it's really hit and miss. i got lucky, but hard to recommend. they get startlingly shy in pairs. go figure!): 1000 each girl, total 2000 thb.

"Long-time" (12-24 hours in my hotel room and out for a meal or two or shooting pool or shopping - they LOVE shopping - but always including at least two fuck/suck sessions): 2000-2400 thb

I found pattaya to lean toward the low price side and bangkok toward the high, with phuket snugly in between, but it REALLY depends on the girls and the range was not that great, as noted above. I don't want to quote specifically what I paid to whom (though I already did that once in a separate post and wish I hadn't) - a wee bit tacky and I MIGHT have been getting a good deal from a few who actually "liked" me. ;-)
I can honestly say that on this trip I had NO bad experiences with any of the fifteen ladyboys with whom I spent time in any of three cities. I think I fell in love two or three times, so I went back for "repeats" much more often than my first trip to LOS. But I've got a soft heart and a vivid imagination.

As Ziggy said, the gift-buying does not count toward the minimum fee, but I did find they kissed me more deeply and touched me more affectionately after I bought them something - be it 100 thb earrings or 1400 thb boots. Or two nights on PhiPhi Island -- although this is probably not the best use of your funds unless you get really lucky and find a ladyboy who actually enjoys the ocean in the daylight. A rarity to be sure!

I never met a Lb in Pattaya who wasnt happy with 500 baht short time.....In fact Ive met a few guys into GGs who say 500 baht a day will keep a GG happy there....and I assume the same applies to a LB......( I never take a LB for all day as I get bored).....A lot of them just want to get away from their bars for a while.....and 500 per day = 15000 per month......a pretty good salary in Bkk let alone Pttya.....and a break from the crappy bar scene for them.....Too many guys think in terms of their home country cost structure....which is irrelevant and just drives up prices......But...up to you . The cost of living Thai style in LOS is fucking cheap!!
