I am in a really cynical mood today. I am of the opinion that most thai ladyboys secretly despise us. They despise the fact that first and foremost that we are farang - foreigners in there sacred country. Secondly that we are generally successful people and have money and can buy what we want to a certain degree i.e. that we can generally buy them, buy favours from the cops if you get in a sticky situation, buy gold and diamonds(if your stupid) etc.. and buy what we like to a certain degree. We generally have a financial as well as a political freedom many thai lack especially ladyboys. Thirdly, we can and do butterfly frequently just like the thai man !!! This really fucks them off ! And even if you don't butterfly you still gain no more respect !!! Damned if you do and damned if you don't !!

This is probably why we very rarely hear of many successful longterm relationships. Nobody really knows who is fucking who !

If you dont know the term butterfly then you have never been to Thailand. It is a term used to describe men who like to fuck a lot of different girls or ladyboys. If you are one of the extreme butterfly's then they call you helicopter.

I also agree with the comments about Thais despising us. If you speak fluent Thai then you really understand the extent of it. I thought that China and Japan were the most xenophobic cultures in World history but they are not even in the same league of ethnocentrism and Xebophobia that exists in Thailand. They truly believe in their hearts that Thais are superior to all others in the world and if you are not Thai then you just dont understand.

You could say the same about Brits or Americans though. Many Brits and Americans think they come from the greatest country on earth, and those from other countries are below them.

I honestly dont think they despise us. That is far too strong a word. I agree that a lot of Thais believe that their country is absolutely wonderful. However this is more to do with the way they were raised and the education system which appears to be selective about history. Many Thais who have been exposed to other cultures do get a greater sense of Thailands place in the world, and the problems within their country and culture.

A problem is that many Thais only real interaction with farangs is with people on holiday or working here. They dont see the real lives most farangs live. Those working earn much more that than most Thais and all seem to be rich. Those on holiday also appear to be rich and throw their money around. Many do not respect Thai culture and traditions. Finally we hang around the redlight areas and are not discreet about who we take. When the Thais go to for a bit of fun they go to a discreet aap orp nuat and dont walk up and down the street with some low class bar girl half their age.

To answer Indefatigables points, I think it is more the case that a lot of theses girls have had a hard upbringing. Despite Thais tolerance to LBs it still must be hard growing up. They come to work meet some nice tourist guy and start to have feelings for him and maybe see a good future. 3 weeks after the guy has gone home, after making lots of promises, they never hear from them again. You cant blame the girls for getting cynical and trying to get what they can from customers. It is the same about how we hear all the stories about the girls only wanting our money etc. As Indefatigable himself said, it makes you cynical about their motives.

BTW I do not see this thread lasting long within the current climate as it could too easily veer off into flaming.

Nice to hear your words of wisdom again. There certainly is a degree of animosity out there thats for sure. It rubs both ways though and i can think of at least half a dozen LBs whom i really cannot stand the sight of and even worse.

Tourists as a class are pretty much looked down on in most places ive been to. At least the smile is usually genuine in Thailand . In Hong Kong smiling is banned by decree.

Also many Ladyboys despise each other. As an analogy take a footbal team; most players would admit to hating at least 3 fellow members and their supposed to be in a team. Imagine the internal LB politics in a place like KC3 , no team spirit here lads.
