You could say the same about Brits or Americans though.  Many Brits and Americans think they come from the greatest country on earth, and those from other countries are below them.

I honestly dont think they despise us.  That is far too strong a word.  I agree that a lot of Thais believe that their country is absolutely wonderful.  However this is more to do with the way they were raised and the education system which appears to be selective about history.  Many Thais who have been exposed to other cultures do get a greater sense of Thailands place in the world, and the problems within their country and culture.

A problem is that many Thais only real interaction with farangs is with people on holiday or working here.  They dont see the real lives most farangs live.  Those working earn much more that than most Thais and all seem to be rich.  Those on holiday also appear to be rich and throw their money around.  Many do not respect Thai culture and traditions.  Finally we hang around the redlight areas and are not discreet about who we take.  When the Thais go to for a bit of fun they go to a discreet aap orp nuat and dont walk up and down the street with some low class bar girl half their age.

The reason i made that comment is i have noticed a difference in the way LB's & GG's treat different people... Even when money is involved....
