The LB I have been dating lately has been instructive in matters of social acceptance and finance between farang and Thai
As she earns reasonably good money by Thai standards (around 60-70K bt / month), there is no hesitation on her part to pay for cab fare, shopping at the market, or even an occasional meal despite the tenfold disparity in our respective incomes
Ditto with her circle of friends and colleagues in the entertainment and modeling community here - not once have they looked at me with the expectation of picking up the tab, and are always appreciative if I do
In no circumstance have I ever encountered anything other than curiosity, kind hospitality, or appreciation wherever we have gone despite the fact that I am usually the only "round-eye" in the room
The only time money has ever been mentioned thus far in our time together was in the matter of a laptop computer
As she is - in addition to her full-time work - studying part-time in a master's degree course at Thamassat University, she has reached a point in her program where a laptop would be useful for thesis work during breaks on set or in the cab to and from location shoots
Thus she made an apologetic request for a short-term loan until payment for several recent jobs came through
I would sum up my (admittedly brief) experience as this:
- that the greater the distance from the tourist environments, the better treatment a farang will receive from average Thais (yes, the smiles are genuine); and
- within the tourist areas you can expect varying degrees of hospitality and courtesy from staff (usually dependent upon price range of your accommodation); and
- if you are in the P4P mode with the girls, then you should expect to be treated like a walking ATM; but if not, normal courtesy and rules of behavior apply
Others with greater experience here are invited to comment
With thanks
P.S. I would think it would be difficult to go back to the "rugby players in drag" that frequent the Way Out on a Saturday night after having being in Thailand a few times
However, there are usually a few Filipina LBs there - on a nite out from their nursing jobs at hospitals around the city - as well as a few professional Malays or Chinese
I seem to recall as well a Thai restaurant in a hotel somewhere near Earl's Court where they had a cute LB wait staff as well as 'drag' nights in the lounge a couple of times a week
Good luck, and hurry back here when you can

This is another thread where many people seem to think LBs are from a different planet and thus inherent attitudes and behaviors different from every other girl on planet earth.
They're just girls. Human beings. Girls. Duh?
Everything said on this thread you could change the title to "Indonesian Girl Prostitutes" and it would still all be valid. When we talk about people in this industry in countries where poverty is high, you get the same result. There isn't a different gene in LBs to make them unique.
Likewise, non-working LBs are the same as girls in any country. Some look for financial stability (like my ex-Filipina wife), some want true love (whatever that is). There are tons of wonderful LBs, honest, not money grabbing, decent people. But you won't generally find them working in Cascades bar where that environment tends to harden people.
Finally, when you have 45 year bald, slighlty fat men going after a 19-23 year old, you get the same result as in your home countries, generally. Like, no way, unless it's for money. As one article I read said, "Just apply the norms of your country, and you can predict the same outcomes." Non-working 23 yr old LB goes with 25 yr old farang...love maybe. 45 yr old farang with 19 yr old girl from Cascades...love, honesty...NOT!

Hi Billy,
Thanks for the info but could you be more specific ? Like who is stopping people having fun in the club ? I heard that some of the girls in there use the toilets to pry there trade and take drugs. I also heard 1 of the girls got glassed and burned with a cigarette end over a punter. Are most of the girls in there pro's ?
Thanks for the heads up.
Inde
PS If it is no fun in there why do you continue going ?

Having lived in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Canada, Germany & of course UK & spent the last 28years travelling with various jobs, ( still am ) & I also have a few good friends who live & work in / from Thailand & Singapore, there is a world of difference between those who work in the sex trade & those who do not.
On my first visit to Thailand, around 1979 / 80, ( & subsiquent regular visits to present day ) those who worked in the sex trade were alot less hardened than they are now ( & considerably cheaper ), but after an ever increasing tide of disrespectful & increasingly drunken lout tourists the rot has well & truly set in. Internet stardom popularity has created its own greed market & massive over "tipping" from the niave, not to mention fools conned into the monthly payments to stop them working in the bars. ( yeah right! )... Has well & truly, wrecked the market! But the service supplied still exceeds anything supplied in western countries, both in cost & GFE.
Where ever I go, outside the sex trade, with the odd exception, strangely enough in western countrys, the local population has always seemed to treat me well. Even the Chinese in Hong Kong & also the Tiawanes were what i considered to be good friends & there was no money involved in our social gatherings. I have been out in the LOS & Singapore with my friends who live there & moved around in there social circles & always felt genuine hospitality.
During the 2 1/2 years I lived & worked in Berlin, within my social circle there was a group of Thais who were some of the nicest & best companions I have had, & that was without any financial interest what so ever. I also have on occassion enjoyed the comapany of Thai & Philippino nurses in yorkshire England without paying for everything, more than I can say for any of my past western girl friends.
If you step into the sex industry you are not really meeting people looking for friendship & a genuine relationship, its there job, its what pays there salary, like being an engineer pays mine. They will no doubt be looked down upon by tho's who are not in the industry. Depending on where in the world you are, price & service will vary immensely, it just so happens in Thailand that service is generally exicuted very well & some people are taken in by it. In my experience, you can take the LB / GG out the bar, but you can rarely take the bar out of them! If you are in your mid 40's plus, bald, & getting if not already fat, your are passed your sell by date, & definitely not the prime catch for 18-25yr old LB / GG, so understand where you are & what you are doing. Play the charade enjoy your time, stay below the radar, think yourself lucky you can afford to do what you are doing & thos eyou have chosen to do it with you are doing so with a smile. ( false tho' it may be! )
If you want real friends, or some genuine hospitality, DON'T go looking in the sex trade.Robin
You pays your money & takes your chance. This isn't a rehearsal do it now, it's no good looking back when it's a lover & wishing.... ITS TOO LATE.

Hi,
It was interesting to read the whole thread. Not necessarily that I agreed with every word of it but i must say most of what Robins (and others) said is true. I just wanted to add a word or two to this.
Sex is the oldest profession and no matter where we go it is there. I am originally from Indo/Pak region and in States for a while (about 20yrs), been in South America and Thailand as a tourist and in Middle East (job). With this intro, all I am trying to say that Sex is the prime profession everywhere in the world (from one end of the globe to the other end - if there is an end point on a globe). So whether it is done by traditional girl/woman or LB the bottom line is the same - money talks. In general men are visually excited and women are emotionally. Fortunately/Unfortunately their emotions are way more realistic than any mens' ego and pride. Prostitution or sex trade is legal in every part of the world - it just has a diffrent legal name. In simple words, a Marriage is nothing but a legal tender for prostitution. I don't understand why anyone should put down LBs or Thailand for that matter? Why do I forget that what is happening in casinos of Vegas, in the street of New York, Dallas, in the bars of New Orleans, London and Paris or in Dehli and Mombay (India) or in Karachi and Lahore (Pakistan)? Lets be realistic, lets give a little respect to the other person (remember we are all buyers and sellers). Of course there are exceptions and there is Love and Hate but after all we are some being.
BTW, "What is LOVE" can be another non stop cool-n-flaming thread.
Peace and Love - whichever the way it comes ...
Danny
