How does the chat feature work?

That would be great if we could log-in the chatroom and if we could use Mirc or Pirch or Xchat...
Is it a Java Chatroom System or an IRC Server?
Because, if it is an IRC server, I have some experience in this matter...

It will be seriously difficult to join this server, because I have NO Java for my MandrakeLinux 10.0 Official...
