if you are hungry for a late-night snack or just want to meet some ladyboys {what?}, you really ought to check out Bali Seafood, which is on the soi that leads to Hollywood Disco and is only about 300 meters from Soi 4 on Ratchada road.
Let me describe this place....... at about midnight it opens; this place is BIG and seats about 1000 people, all open-air and about half covered by a roof, playing loud music like you would hear in a disco. By 1 or 2 AM the seats start to fill up and by 3 you can't get one [yes, I tend to stay up late]. By 330, this place is packed [thursday-saturday, not sure about other nights] with about 1000 drunk local Thai's out having fun, half of which are ladies and another 50-100 of which are ladyboys [no shit]. By 4-5 it is still a mob scene; this place sells booze literally under the table [you hold your beer mug under the table and they fill it up] all night and people who have not had enough fun or gotten laid yet by hanging in the 20 or so bars in the area come here to hang out. The street outside on Ratchada looks like a parking lot of taxi's until the sun rises. Freelancer ladyboys prowl the outsides of the Soi where it meets Ratchada from about 3-6 and some are very hot; I saw about 15 on that corner one night.
Went there 3 times in February for late-night fun; the last time with my buddy MIchael and we saw about 30 ladyboys including 10-15 from the Cascades crowd. Many of the ladyboys go here late night looking for Thai boyfriends and succeed; the only other farangs there were 3 german-looking guys, but they will go home with you if you hit on them. I also went there with one of my affiliate friends named Andrew and we saw a table full of Cascades girls who invited us to sit down and join them for drinks and some chicken; it was 4AM at this time and it feels strange to see such a vibrant and fun crowd out having fun and hanging out so late, in the warm tropical breezes of a Bangkok high-season night. I ended up taking one of the girls from Cascades home that night and we had fun despite the late hour.
Great place to go for late-night hunting, but you must be a night owl. Also good for people just coming in from long-distance flights that land at midnight [hello, all you fellow east coast americans] and you can't go to sleep due to jet lag; go hang at Bali and have some chow and maybe take home a hottie. Tell any taxi "Soi 4 ratchada" and then say Bali Seafood; they will know the place.
