As pointed out by others, it comes down to money.

How am I going to earn money in the LOS?

If I quit my job, can I return home in a year or two and easily get a comparable job?

If one's in a dead end job, has no obligations at home and has the equivalent of million baht in the bank, why not go to the LOS for a year or so. Rent a beach hut for 200 baht a night. Splurge in Pasttaya with 1000 baht longtimes. What da fuck, goforit!

My antenna is up, listening for possible ways to make the move.

Can I telecommute from Thailand?

Can I night-trade and make a living?

Internet poker?

Ex-pat package?

Country close to Thailand?

I just think lb's are damaged goods when it comes to long term relationships. I know there are exceptions to every rule, but so far I haven't found any to this one.

This may have been true several years ago and it certainly applies to ladyboys who work the streets and bars to make money.

However it is less true today for 'regular' ladyboys who can fit almost seamlessly into Thai society.

It takes two to keep a relationship going. One person can't do all the work. It doesn't matter who you are or what you do.

Also - I would say - most people are "damaged goods when it comes to long term relationships!"

I certainly am! 3 or 4 years is usually about my limit.

My relationship with Kui has easily and by far been the most rewarding and satisfactory one I have ever had with anyone.

Well, maybe my outlook is colored by the fact that I've never met any lb's other than those that go to the tg clubs. There probably are lb's that try to blend in and lead normal lives. They might be better bets for long term relationships. But I'm guessing most of them want to become "real" women; i.e., get their dicks chopped off. So not what a lot of us guys would be interested in.

In the LOS, someone might be better able to find a preop/nonbar girl LB for a LT relationship. But I'd give odds that even with such girls, the relationships will not last more than a couple years (and yes, maybe it's the guy's fault, maybe because the reality of living with a chick w/a dick does not live up the the fantasy, 'specially when that fantasy includes coming home every night to a hot and hard lb who will cook you dinner, then f your brains out).

There probably are lb's that try to blend in and lead normal lives.

Although working in bars is not a "normal" life, I find there's a big difference between ladyboys who work in girl bars as opposed to ladyboys who work in ladyboy bars.

The superstars will always be working in ladyboy bars.  But drama and attitude tends to be part of that scene.

Ladyboys who work in girl bars just want to fit in.  They often have girl roomates.  I find them to be more jai dee.  All (four)of the Thai ladyboys who reached girlfriend status with me  worked in girl bars.

Since it's not realistic to come to Thailand for a two week vacation and meet non-bar ladyboys (unless maybe if you're young, dumb, and full of cum), the next best thing for me are the LBs in the girl bars.
