Her complaint about a lack of customers is felt throughout Cascade Bar. It is really hard on some of the LB'S and they are worried that they might have to seek other bars to work at. I don't imagine that will help though, it's just not the time for customers in any of the LB venues right now. I know from talking with my sweetie and the Mamasan that if they get one customer a week they consider themselves lucky. With another LB bar in Nana it puts more pressure on these LB'S . Even the "superstars" like Noon, Ming, Marsha and Da are hurting. I hope things pick up for them as the summer moves along.

me also, but I don't see that happening  unfortunately. hell, even when I go there in January there is never more than 5-10 falangs in that place, and always 40-45 ladyboys standing around looking bored.  This is the best shemale bar in the world, period; and from my experience tracking web stats there are thousands and thousands of guys out there interested in shemales. Somehow we have to get the 2 together.

I always said that a "TS travel agency" must be a huge business. As you said, there is an unbelievable demand out there, but the guys just have the barrier to do the final step. They need someone to help them doing it!

I think it's more than being afraid or ambivalent. It's also a lot to do with the ways these bars and the girls conduct themselves professionally.

If Cascades had a professional service orientated farang manager running the show then it would be busy every night.

Most people who enter a bar do NOT appreciate being hounded to fucking death when they walk through the door or when they accidently make eye contact with a girl!

Drinks from 100 Baht and the girls ask you to buy them one also. The music is horrible and too loud. The air conditioning is crap so you sweat your nuts off. The girls won't fucking leave you alone even when you ask them to.

Certainly not my idea of fun... and THAT is why these places are dead. It's simply not worth the hassle and aggravation when you can just hang around outside Big Dogs at midnight and take your pick.

Don't take my word for it... just peer round the doorway into these places... EMPTY...

Now... look at Nana Plaza from the Big Dogs bar and tell me where YOU would rather be!

I have been in these places so many times now and I can tell you that every time some poor sap comes in he is driven out by the relentless hassle and aggravation of these girls. One drink and the guys can't wait for the stress free atmosphere of the outside world.

It (Cascades) may be the best ladyboy bar in terms of talent (and Obsessions is increasingly getting their shit together in this department) but as far as a bar it ranks as low as any shit hole gas station where I live. It sucks.

Sob stories about the low season don't impress me. Get your act together and start providing a service that people want and are willing to pay for. I don't hear Nick from Cocktails & Dreams complaining too much and he's fucking miles away living in the shadows of the Tsunami!

To a degree I agree, if you are by yourself and not an experianced LB hounddog you would be intimidated out the door in a FLASH. On the other hand if you have been there before, and especially if you "know" a few of the girls, stick around and let the fun begin. :-) Not so bad if you are with a friend. This kind of shit happens in GG bars as well unless there is a Mamasan ruling with an Iron rod. Let's face it it's a hard way to make a Bhat!

Stogie makes a lot of valid points here; when I said it is the best shemale bar in the world I was only referring to the talent of the ladyboys, but he is dead on when he talks about the hassles and the other problems in there and every bar. Because most of the girls know me they leave me alone and I am thankful for that; I have seen some poor dude walk in there or the others {Casanova is especially bad for this} and get absolutely mugged. They can't wait to finish their beer and get the fuck out of there to what Stogie describes as the sanity of the outside world.

SB and myself sat at Big Dogs one night for about 4 hours and discussed everything under the sun, had 5 or 6 beers each in a quiet, hassle-free environment and had a generally good time. Do ya' think that could happen in a ladyboy bar? Never.

Valid points from all here; until they make these bars user-friendly they will remain dead I am afraid.

"User-friendly" is such a foreign concept to the Thai mind that it will stay the same old shit in these bars. Even being known is sometimes more of a problem as the ones that know you will converge on you because they figure you are good for ladydrink or maybe a barfine. Owner/management are the ones responsible but they don't seem to have a clue in Nana or Patpong or they just don't care. Too bad some of us can't put a group together and buy one of these places, pay the necessary "bribes" to the Pol Colonel and boys in brown and show the rest how it is done correctly. I know it can be done right and it frustrates the hell out of me whenever I am in these bars. Your advice about waiting at Big Dogs is spot on, by closing time the LB'S are so hard up for S/T or L/T baht that it becomes one giant discount market for the buyer. God, I love the smell of desperation coming from LB's.
