coming from the guy who got whiplash the last time he ever reached for a check, that one must REALLY hurt, SB!!

 seperate, multiple check cups is the only way to go when out with a large group of people or even 1 or 2 guys;  for some reason the  check always  seems to end up in my lap when I go out drinking with anyone but myself so I learned, "only pay for what is put in front of ME"  from now on. always tell the waitress, multiple cups, one for each person in the group; saves problems later.

anyway, I can't be there next thursday or any other thursday for a while..... kinda  far away right now

Fuck it... I'll answer now... Scotch overpowers commonsense once again, folks!  

I hadn't even clicked on this thread again as I thought it was old news, but 3 people have brought it to my attention, so I thought I'd catch up.

First off - I'm not tight-fisted. But I don't have much money. Pretty much all of what I have made recently has gone to help Kui with some personal matters of which I don't intend to share here.

A lot of the members here that know me appreciate the work I do helping JaiDee get this site out and this appreciation comes in a variety of ways... from a few beers, to magazines and books from my home country to many even larger chunks of generosity that I'll not embarrass the guys by divulging.

Yup - when I do come into town I don't often have to put my hand in my pocket. I don't take advantage of that privilidge and I certainly never expect it. I do, however, appreciate it.

Snick - your rent each month is about my total monetary income for two months. So snide comments like yours (and it's not the first) are not very welcome.

I'll not document the numerous occasions that you have suddenly found yourself out of cash or in a hurry to leave but my own experiences and the people who share these stories about you with me are people whose judgement and authenticity I trust.

One more thing - If I did have to 'pay my own way' I would never be able to afford to go to the places in Bangkok that I have been lucky enough to get to see. These are largely tourist attractions and they charge premium rates. Well outside of my world.

As well as keeping the forum and Clubhouse together I'm also often at the airport meeting new guys off the plane, or popping into hotel lobbys leaving or collecting the ATS Free Mobile phone. Anyone who reads this forum knows that I'll drop what I am doing and go into town to meet them for a beer and share a little of what I know.

I like what I do - but it is the generosity and thoughtfulness of other members that allows me to continue to do it.

That is my final word on this thread.

my theory on buying  drinks for other people is always the same; if it is MY  offer and I want to share a drink with someone I am happy to pay and we usually have a great time.  This goes from ladyboys to people I have met from this website to my friends I hang with in BKK.    But it stops the moment they EXPECT me to pay, and this applies to the same group of people I just described.  Again, I can't even remember the amount of times the bill or check comes 'round and for some reason they always bring it to ME!!  No matter who, or how many people I am with.....for what?  I dress like a shitbum and don't have a lot of cash but I seem to be a magnet for these waitresses for some reason. I have since learned that I pay only for what is put down in front of me and the people I offer to buy drinks or dinner for and that is it now. I got into a big fight in Obsessions one night with a waitress who  handed me a bill for over 1200 baht when all I had was one  beer and bought a coke for a ladyboy; I screamed at her, she screamed at me, and in the end I paid only for what *I* had bought and not the  7 or 8 beers and lady drinks that the people with me had ordered.  It took 15 minutes for her to sort it all out but in the end justice prevailed and I paid 200 like I should have and she hates me now but FUCK her. 1000 extra baht doesn't kill me; but the principle does.

        Stewart, Pig Dogg, Marty from California, L-Jay, and especially Bartman who paid me the ultimate compliment by paying for a GIRL for me for the night are the only people in 3 years of doing this job who have picked up the tab for me and I really appreciate that, although it really wasn't necessary and definately NOT expected.  But from my end, I have bought beers and lady drinks for numerous people on countless occassions  whether I wanted to or not and that is over now, my nice guy limits having been  breached  a long time ago.

        I still say, pay for what is put in front of you at the time you order it and arguements with the staff [and threads like this] can be avoided. Especially if you are out in a large group of guys or in KC3, who at least seem to have cleaned up their act lately in the rip-off-the-customer sweepstakes.

Chaps what can i say?, I missed out on that due to the fact i have just landed back in the UK, i was in the phils thursday and while i was in bkk i could not access this site, proxy error or something, that was in times square internet cafe suk and nana internet cafe, only place i mangenged to get online was while i was in pattaya. I am sure you would of seen me around by now, i was doing the rounds seriously catching up on some lovely lb's. I will be posting trip report shortly when my jet lag has passed a little as my brain is well gone. Shame to have missed ya. Next time
