Thinking about a few days at Koh Samui in 2 weeks, anyone got the run down on the place. Where is the action, good hotel, best place to be located for relaxing and whatever etc any assistance appreciated.

In one of my posts I mistakenly called the Marina Beach Reort the Marina Villa. These two hotels are next door to each other in Lamai and the hotel you want is the MARINA BEACH RESORT

This place is worth about 3000 baht but cost me oly 950 as a walk-in. The regular rate is only 1250 which suprised the shit outa me. I stayed in the main building. I didn't look at the bungalows cause they were all booked, but it's possible the cheper main building might be better than the bungalows. I don't know but check both out first cause the main building is nice and new. Bottom line, if you stay in Lamai, stay at this hotel.

Lamai vs Chaweng? Chaweng and Lamai are VERY different,. The only thing they have in common is that you can get laid in either place. I think Chaweng sucks moosecock but it does have more ladyboys. So I wouldn't book non-refundble longterm in either place cause you might like the other place better.

Hi Flydeq--in one word Samui sucked for ladyboy action. The only place to go is Chaweng and you have to go to these stupid cabarets places to meet someone and it is not as good as Phuket at all for ladyboys. I stayed at the Central resort for three days and I was bored shitless. It is pretty and nice but the ladyboy action is subpar

Ironically, I just arrived today from Samui. I took a LB friend from BKK, however, I did visit all the Samui, Chaweng haunts. There are 3 Cabarets. It is a pain to go to them to meet someone, but you gotta do what you gotta do. In each of the cabarets, Amsterdam, Christy's and Star, a few LBs show up to watch the show and the waitresses are often LBs. Christy's has the best show, and best waitress/audience in my opinion. I don't think there is another place to meet them except roaming the street in vain. All taxis know these places and about 1 hour before the shows they are out on the street in costume so it's hard to miss.

Hotels/Villas depend on budget. If you have some money, the Buri Spa Resort is a great location, nice villas. Lower cost, but still nice villas right on the beach is Samui Resotel. It's low season now, so you could literally walk the beach and just look in at the villas / hotel you like and try walk-in. However, it is a bit of a walk to go through a few, but worth it to get what you want. You have to walk on the beach side to do this. It's hard to tell what they look like from the main road.

You can have a good time, but it is NOT LB heaven.
