Sophida Siriwatananukul was Friday crowned the winner of Miss Tiffany's Universe 2015, Thailand's largest transgender beauty pageant, in the beach resort city of Pattaya.

The 22-year-old public health student was chosen from a field of 30 contestants, and will later this year represent Thailand at Miss International Queen, the world's largest international transgender beauty pageant.

The pageant is organised by Tiffany's Show, one of the largest transvestite cabaret shows in the country, located in Pattaya, 100 kilometres southwest of Bangkok.

The Miss Tiffany Universe contest was launched in 1998 in tandem with the government's Amazing Thailand Year, a publicity campaign that emphasised the country's unique tourist attractions.

It was also aimed at creating a positive image of transgender people, who struggle to find jobs outside of the entertainment and tourism industries.

She was wearing number 20 in the contest.

Thanks Crag - I wish it was a little less hot and humid that night was it was getting hard to hold the lens zoomed out to 300 mm, with so much sweat, and of course the ladies were so gorgeous as well!

There were some stunning lbs in the competition, 9 and 21 caught my eye. I'm sure the photos don't do them justice and to be there live must be amazing.

andre459 - you're welcome - it's always a treat to be able to take photos of the Miss Tiffany contestants - especially the Miss Sexy Star segment. You're right the photos don't always do them justice, but I recently brought a new lens 55-300, which is sharper than my old 18-250 mm travel zoom.

I know I shouldn't be looking at the audience but the white couple in the front row look like they just came from the beach - shorts and thongs. You'd think you would make some effect when going to the Miss Tiffany contest. It makes me curious about the audience make up - I imagine it's mainly Thais, or is it a mixture of Thais and farang?

andre459, I only attended the Miss Sexy Star segment this year, as I had to go back to work before the finals on May 8. The audience tends to be majority Thai, with the occasional farang present. It's a big event, and the theatre is generally almost sold out. I have been to 4-5 finals night in the past.

There isn't a dress code, but most people do wear formal or high fashion, so the front row couple are out of place. They are in the VIP section, which is the entire main floor, with regular seating up in the balcony. Tickets are pricey with VIP tickets close to 100 USD and regular about 65 USD.

However, I would say it's worth it.
