My Aussie chum called me from Phuket a few minutes ago and told me about the melee that ensued after word of a new tsunami got out!
Hundreds of people panicked and swarmed away from the beaches. Lots of screaming and crying and road accidents as everyone struggled to get as inland as possible!
My mate was right there in the middle of it and was quite taken aback by what he saw!
Of course, it turned out that it was a false alarm, but it's just another nail in the coming coffin that was Phuket.
The 'warning system' is a waste of time. People found out from cell phones from their friends and it was them who alerted everyone else. Long before the 'authorities' decided to do anything!
Anyway - if you were in Phuket today you won't be reading this as the forum is pretty much blocked off there!
