This orphanage looks to be doing fairly well as far as orphanages go in LOS. Is this one of a few candidates - as I know there are other places needing even more help than this one needs.

I was thinking the same thing, while this place isn't luxury, it certainly seems to be a showpiece for orphanges.

I would never imagine that 100 kids would have 50 staff to manage them, no matter how many are volunteers.

And it is the staff that worry me, I don't suggest they be given cash, goods & services only. I'm sure they are good people, totally above temptation, but let's not put it in their path.

Before anything is decided, can I enquire just how many orphanges are there in Thailand & can we get more result for our money?
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

            Interesting comments.

So this orphanage has ample staff and, by Thai standards, is in good shape.

Can we find out more about orphanages in poorer areas? There are a couple in Pattaya and obviously more in other more regional cities. I would rather give to those less well supported.

How about linking up with someone like Rotary to see who is in greater need?

I know we cannot fix all the world's problems (nor Thailand) but I would like to help those in bigger need first - only my opinion.

Well we have more money! Just unsure how to disperse it!

This will get more of my attention in June.

I was involved in a similar venture and found that by identifying exactly what is needed and what you can bring to the venture apart from just donating is the best route to take. As an example for a homeless charity we supplied them with flasks to distribute tea and coffee on their soup runs around town. We managed to get a deal on these from a supplier, also sewing machine were provided and gave the charity an excuse to create and fund sewing classes thereby giving the kids a skill. Just my two cents...
Not up the ass thank you very much...

                          Stogie,
I was ready to write you off as a racist, fascist bastard. After reading this thread that is no longer possible.
I'm not in the country, but I would like to donate a few $ to the cause. If you could let me know how to do that on line that would be great.
                          Cheers,
                          -J

The best way is the PayPal button and send me a note also as the donation won't have your username on it.

All PayPal donations that I get till Tuesday go to the charity pot...

PM me if you are in the UK and I'll give you my bank account number... If you are in the USA then mail me some Jimmy Dean sausage and I'll share a slice or two with the needy!
