  • 1st September 2009 ~ Things change!

    Hi folks new and old...

From 1st of September this forum will become the property of new owners.

I'll be around for a while as a moderator, adviser and poster.

The new owners may or may not wish to make themselves known to you.

After September 1st I won't be handling any forum business.

From immediate effect I won't be responding to PMs and emails from people I don't know.

In the next few weeks I'll be donating the money we have in the bank from The Big Bash to the Jesters charity organization.

We'll be donating as a GOLD MEMBER sponsor at the 50,000 baht level.

After that has been done I'll be leading a simple life of Lima bean soup and quite unhurried domesticity!

You can post any comments that you wish to.

This thread will be locked on August 30th and unpinned at that time...

Cheers for a great few years...

    Stogie

                    Shocking news indeed.

On reflection I can imagine many reasons for off-loading the forum (for the right price) and knowing Stogie even the little that I do, I am sure he has plenty of aces up his sleeves and other possibilities he wants to pursue.

The end of an era? Perhaps. But remember (new owners too) that the forum is carried by the posters and readers here albeit up till now under Stogie's divine guidance.

Lets hope that the new guys are wise enough  to be both as tolerant and opinionated as Stogie has been.If they are a bunch of idiots a new forum will surely be set up 'tout suite'.

Stogie. Thanks for all the years of hard work, and my first gmail account (yes. it's that long ago). There have been times when I have found you a total prat, and I'm sure that feeling is mutual.

Good luck with whatever your next venture may entail. I sincerely hope we won't miss you too mutt.

Stogie, I'm not much for posting and never have been (I believe this is my fifth post in as many years), but would like to say that I'll miss the good work you've done. I don't know if people appreciate the delicate approach it takes to successfully manage a forum - permitting enough difference of opinion to let conversation thrive and keeping just enough control to prevent it from devolving into bickering and stupidity (Jai Dee certainly never did). There is a reason this is the preeminent forum on the subject, and you deserve all the credit for that. Best wishes.

                            Well, well, well...

It is the wise man who knows when to bow out gracefully.

Good luck for your future, I am sure it involves more than Lima Bean soup.

You have left big shoes for the new owner to fill, I hope you teach him well...
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.
