Jane's Accident

So ... Jane and I were on our way to the bus station in Pattaya on 2 January. A car turned right in front of us and we narrowly avoided a major broadside. However, we did take off his rear bumper and launched ourselves into flight. Crawled off the road and started nursing our wounds.

Jane laid the bike down fairly smoothly, which prevented mush worse damage. Thai guy is yelling at us! Ambulance arrived, took us to the hospital and they sewed Jane up.

Docs took some X-rays and found her patella/kneecap was cracked. Not enough for a plaster cast, so they applied a pneumatic immobilizer, which she has to wear for some period of days. Next, it was off to the police station to recover the bike and settle damages. Cops were alright and the Thai guy had to give us cash to pay for the medical bills and to repair the bike.

My poor darling also had some laceration and bruising on her face, shoulder and wrist.

And, all of you drooling dogs- and you know who you are- try to ignore her great smile and other pretty bits!

And she manages to muster a smile after that ordeal!

Noi and I wish your sweetie a quick recovery!

So this week you'll have to play nurse Socrates.

She swears that the watch I bought her for her birthday saved her wrist from even worse damage- killed the watch though!

After that, we scored a cab and headed home, where she is busy recuperating and ...

A few days of R&R and we should both be back on our feet (or backs or stomachs) again. In the meantime, she putters with her domestics stuff and keeps me busy, signaling me with her little bell (compliments of Jay and Guess Bar) to attend to her needs.

Very sorry to hear of your mishap, and I'm sure Jane will be up and about soon ... when she tastes your cooking (and sees you in your nurse's uniform     )

My injuries were very minor compared to hers. I flew over her, but I landed just right. It could have been worse on so many levels. The only damage ...

Noted number 14 on the offense list (missing vehicle parts)...if there was a real crackdown on that offense, they would cash in royally. But I guess stoping farangs for helmet laws is easier as they have the cash & bribes potentials. TIT

My favorite is #4: illegal U-tern. I believe the U-terns are now an endangered bird species. I also don't understand why an illegal vehicle modification is a 250% higher fine than an failure to stop at a red light light. I venture that the red light thing kills hundreds more people every year in Thailand.

Pleased to see that you are both OK after the ordeal.

I hate being on a motor bike - only needs a minor accident to cause a lot of personal damage.

What a nasty incident. I'm very happy that it wasn't a lot worse though. We see these things every day living here and this is a graphic reminder.

Hope you get on the mend soon and are ready for some ribs or Bully's Bar food soon!
