Hey all,

Glad everyone is one piece and no doubt now that the pain is over Jane is enjoying the loving care you are showing her... Good for you!

However it might be time to remind a few of our out of town friends a few facts about riding scooters and motorbikes in Thailand:

FIRST: Travel insurance costs bugger all. I am continually surprised at the number of people who fail to buy travel insurance. if you get stuck in a hospital for a couple of nights you are looking at big bucks. SO TAKE THE TRAVEL INSURANCE OPTION!

Secondly, and I know its a pain in the ass: Please wear at least some covered footwear and long pants... the bruising is the same, but the lacerations may be saved along with the option of lovely secondary infections.

A friend of mine (who is a cunt) had a habit of waiting for those who fell off scooters to let their scabs develop to a nice crust... and then slap the scab with a slipper. He did it to me once and I have never failed to wear shoes since... (told you he was a cunt, but good at reinforcing a safety message! )

I can't see you as a nurse though - A Matron from one of the British "Carry-on" movies maybe easier to imagine.

Sorry to hear about the accident and especially about Jane's injuries. However, very glad it was not more serious. I think it is truly amazing how high the pain tolerance that lbs have. Also very happy you have fairly minor injuries.

Wishing you both a speedy recovery and good job the police made the culprit pay for the damages and hospital expenses, sometimes the BIBs can get it right!

Shame it ruined the trip but you walked away from it so that's the important thing. I'm surprised the thai driver didn't get you to pay for having the temerity to be anywhere near him, looks like it sorted itself out in favour of the real injured parties for a change.

Police made the Thai driver pay for everything!

Thanks to each of you for your individual heartfelt wishes. Jane is truly surprised at the volume of responses. As we realized almost instantly and has been reinforced by many, it could have been MUCH worse. It can ALWAYS be worse! It was Jane's good driving skills that allowed it to be a glancing blow off the rear bumper rather than a head-on into the moron's quarter panel.

Jane is hobbling about and still tries to insist on cooking, however, I am doing most of the cooking and cleaning right now. The added plus is that, with the quality of my cooking, we should both be thinner at the end of the week. My New Years res was to lose a bunch of kilos. Maybe the crash diet will help!

Didn't really ruin our holiday, cuz, again, no serious injury, either physically or financially. We were headed home after 6 days of Pattaya fun and I'll be back at work very soon.

Snapper, that picture of Nurse Dear makes me hurt more than the scratches on my arm. Tan, sorry I didn't get to see more of you the other night. Jane wanted to get out to see you also.
