Not that I can explain it, but I guess it is a cultural thing showing the domination of the male and the submissiveness of the female. I experienced the same in China when visiting a local bathhouse which actually stands for brothel. I often heard girls in the next room doing those noises whereas the men were usually quite silent - no dirty talking or heavy breathing even.

I had a regular there who got into the same routine more or less and it always seemed like the vocal part of faking an orgasm. She did quite a good job faking it as sometimes her entire body was shaking - or was it the real thing? Well, I guess I will never find out ...

Yes, I do think it is a turn-on for them and I also think that both, China and Japan are still very male dominated and the woman's duty is to give pleasure to the guy ...

There was another annoying thing though and I don't know whether it is the same in Japan. When about to enter such a bathhouse, the guys there started to shout their welcomes and announce you to the next in line - either the reception or the changing room staff. God, that was a pain, their shouts all along. Never knew why they did that, but it might have to do with paying respect to the customers. Same routine again when you left. I usually stuffed earplus into my ears until I got to the girl's room. The locals didn't seem to mind all those noises.
