Yes they certainly are. Myself and others who have been there recently have discussed phuket in detail in other threads. I myself will be back in late March and would not be going there if it was not worthwhile I can assure you

Phukets the place. The diving and LB are both first rate, the same can not be said about the Gulf of thailand (Koh Tao/Kao Samui)

Try and find out what the current conditions are like before you go, some reefs were damaged by the Tsunai and some were unaffected.

There is some damage to one of the nine Similan Islands(I assume you are diving the Similans), other than that ita is all good.
