I think this topic has been done to death elsewhere, but maybe modern technology and the inventive minds of you old hands will have come up with a revolutionary new solution to this dilemma.
Or probably not.
Having just returned from my 2nd LOS adventure, I've finally got the bug.
Big time.
Having spent close to 3 weeks in LOS on both trips, I'm suddenly aware of the fact that it will be close to 12 months before I have enough vacation time accrued to return again for 3 weeks. I only get 4 weeks a year so taking another trip anytime soon probably isn't an option. It takes 2 days to fly from Seattle to BKK (but only a couple of hours to return home) so a quick weekend getaway is not practical.
I'm only 49 and in my prime earning years. I don't want to walk away from the great cushy job I've got just to be able to spend more time in paradise. But I don't want to wait until I'm too old to enjoy it to spend more time there!
Anecdotal reports seem to indicate that actually moving to LOS is only a good move for a small percentage of us. I have family and friends here in the USA that I would miss very much, so anything beyond a month or two would probably be unpalatable (if I could even figure out a way to do it).
Assuming you don't know how to install a working teleporter, that leaves me with the question that started this:
How do you survive the long months away from LOS?
After the Olympics end, I'll return to my favored diversion of driving the 2 hours to Vancouver BC to participate in the mongering scene there. No ladyboys, that's not really a viable or interesting option outside of LOS (the scene and the participants are sooooo different, it's not really attractive to me).
How do you get by?
