I flew in to Bangkok in the midst of news of political unrest in the city. I got off the plane late at night and was expecting a very heavy traffic heading to the city. In my mind, the streets of Bangkok were swamped with people gathering in the streets participating in the latest series of protest against the government. I guess that's what reading international news reports gets you... over hyped imaginations. The situation was far from what I had imagined. Apart from a slight delay on the freeway just outside the airport where there were brief security checks, the journey to city centre where my hotel is located was very smooth, I daresay even smoother than many other trips I had there.
After I checked into the hotel and settled down, I realised that the clock has yet to strike midnight, and I gleefully got change into my best partying outfit and flagged a cab to drive me to Nana, which was about 15 minutes ride away.
