Geisha! NEW LB bar on Soi 3...

Gentlemen,

Today for some reason (time on my hands? curiosity? both?), I read the whole La Bamba thread (backwards, as is my wont - like to read the most recent postings first). Now, I've read this much shorter Geisha thread.

Several things occur to me from the juxtaposition of the two threads:

€¢ I'm surprised there wasn't more hue and cry fromthe BM community about La Bamba closing. It certainly seemed to be a great place with very good talent

€¢ I'm surprised there wasn't more discussion about what happened with Alis leaving La Bamba and now opening this place

As for Geisha Bar itself, the following excerpts from previous posts seem to be relevant to the issue of whether it will make a go of it...

IMHO, if someone wanted to really help Alis. they would show her how to take pictures. load them to her computer, and post them to this thread every day. A little point and shoot camera combined with Microsoft Picture Manager would do the trick.

All she would have to do is post the girl's names. No text would be necessary, what with the visually-oriented membership here! Jimbo has done excellently with the C&D thread, and consistency has been a big part of that, I think...

Somehow I find it hard to believe that either Alis wouldn't know how to use a camera and post pics on this thread OR would be able to find a Thai friend who could.

However, I would think it takes quite a bit more to run any place successfully for that matter of fact apart from publicizing it on this forum only ...

One thing would be to get through the first 6-12 months doing everything it takes to promote and run your biz without taking out too much of you intake - keep it in the biz, reinvest it, save it for those rainy days.

Basically she needs more of everything - more girls, more customers, more promotion, combined with frugality on her (and her bf's) part when it comes to any unnecessary spendings. And this is not even considering bribes and giving to whomever for the matter of saving face as many will think once you own a business you must be rich ...

I wish Alis and any person who tries to run a decent business all the luck in the world but that road is full of potholes and neither of us will be able to patch them up ...

Lots of owners don't take advantage of free promotion on the Forums.

Tim of Sally Bar rarely posts.  

Rudy of Cats Place, now closed, never posted, but English is his 4th language.

Farang owners of both staight and gay forums often don't use the forums that could drive customers to their venue.

You look at businesses spending all kinds of money advertising on Pattaya TV and magazines and it seems not promoting on forums is wasted opportunity.

My it seems Pookie has put on some weight. I was talking to her last month and didn't notice.

Those pics of her show a magnificent set of pins. Her legs used to be a little skinny.

The question is whether they ones mentioned choose not to post on forums?
And if they choose not to, perhaps they have valid reasons.
You are much more familar with Sally's for example than I am, but it appears that Sally's prefers to be more low-key and perhaps doesn't want to showcase their staff all the time ...

And I know that I will get bashed over the head numerous times for this, but - 2 of the bars which had way above average presence on this forum and probably others as well - 131 and La Bamba - are now out of business - and I am not saying that there is a relation between advertising on forums and the eventual breakdown of the biz.

Advertising, in particular in the beginning brings people into the venue, but it will never compensate for running a tight ship and having yr expenses under control as well as understanding the idiosyncrasies of the biz in question.

But I also guess that many bars in Pattaya and many other parts of the world survive nevertheless.

Another thought just comes to my mind but I am speculating here - the more a bar advertises on forums, the more new staff will be required and requested (by those forum members) - perhaps not explicitly but new faces (and bodies) will increase visitor-frequency ...

Sad to say but I am no longer on the ground in Pattaya. I faced a similar dilemna as BB....lack of funding has forced my return to farangland. But at least I still have a few choice fotos to share when I find the time.

To be honest BB beat me to the Geisha Bar by one day, but I beat him to Pooky

You misunderstand me flee. I think the pics in the white dress ARE flattering. I like Pookie that way. She was getting TOO skinny.

I'm still struggling to see any fat on the beautifully trim, taut & terrific Pookie.

Ironically, I was thinking she could do with demolishing a couple of Big Macs.

Perhaps Donnykey meant that he "cracked a fat" when he saw the photos.

But seriously, this girl hasn't gained weight.

Sticking strictly to the numbers, she told me that she now weighs 49 kg compared to 47 some time ago - she also said that is because she is expecting and will go and see doctor this morning. Anyone volunteering as father out there? ;-)

And her legs are still skinny - but then I like skinny :-)
