I basically agree with what Snick said except I don't always buy a lady drink even if I asked her to sit down.

I don't care if the bar gets pissed off or not. As long as I am buying myself drinks the bar is making money and if I bar fine they make even more so why should I worry about them.

Having said that I never leave the girl empty handed and she will either get a tip or a drink if I asked her to sit down. However if she just sat down she will get nothing unless I succumb to her advances. Anyone who's first words to me are "buy me drink" will just get ignored.

It really depends on the girls circumstances if she would prefer a tip or lady drink as maybe she has not money and is hungry and with say 50-100 baht in her hand right then and there is better that waiting to cash in her chits for a lady drink that she may not even want.

I must admit I hate buying those watered down cola drinks and usually tell them I am happy to buy a drink as long as it comes in a bottle such a beer, breezer etc because I don't feel ripped off even though it costs more.

I guess there are two things one can surmise from your post. (1) you NEVER tip less than 100 baht, even if the girl basically did nothing - you won't throw them 30-60 baht for food or whatever even; (2) you didn't read my post?

What I said is YES I give 100 baht if they sit and hang out and make me happy. Otherwise, possibly nothing, but if a girl I previously knew and not sitting with me I may throw her 20-50 baht for food or something.

I guess you are an all or nothing man.

My point was this attitude that I only give out 100 baht notes is LDOP.

I don't need a reason to hand out 100 baht either, but it's presumably because the girl made me feel good.

You're both correct and incorrect mate...But I only took issue with your intimation
that it is wrong to throw 100 baht notes around...

First, I would never ever embarrass myself or the ladyboy by throwing 30 or 60 baht her way...But
that is just me and I would never tell you that you are wrong in doing that...Up to you how you spend
your money...

Second, I seldom go to bars that sell lady drinks...I prefer to go to bars where the ladyboy can have
a real drink same same me...

Third, If I am with the ladyboy for a while, she can have more than one drink...and still receive a tip
when I leave...and sometimes the tip is more than 100 baht...

And yes, when I run into a ladyboy who I know outside her bar, I will gladly give her some baht for food
if she is bahtless...or even take her along with me to eat...

So the sole purpose of my quick post was only to say...You spend what and how you want...I don't care...

But please don't tell me, as you implied in your original post, how to spend my money...

If a ladyboy sits with me without an invitation, she is simply ignored until she leaves on her own...

If she sits with me without an invitation and asks for a drink, she is told to go away...

lady drink s cost alot of money and are served in the smallest glasses ive seen. infact i think the thais have a special factory making them so small

nah, for my part I suspect they are being made in Switzerland and then imported.

but have to add.... only 2 people had reached that hounour in the bar....some long time residents that just hangs around the bar...with a water from 7-11.....and try to make contacts with the girls for after bar-hour appointments...

I tip only when I am pleased with the service, no matter where, be it in a restaurant, at the barber or in a bar in Pattaya.

Many people told me tipping in Thailand is a must no matter what and I did during my first trips but not anymore.
I  tip for good service but not just because it's expected.

When I ask a girl (or LB) to sit with me of course I buy a drink or tip her. Different after I barfined her and return to her bar.
I would buy drinks for her, but no ladydrinks. Same goes for her collegues when they want a drink.
It works well too, instead of a Brandy glass a quarter filled with coke for 120 Baht, they drink a beer for 65 (which lasts longer too).

My opinion.

There are certain bars where the girls are just that bit too pushy.....even if you are sat with the LB who attracts you in the first instance............you learn the hard way and reward those who deserve it, in your opinion............that is..........

There are no rules about LadyDrinks - Up To You BUT
- Anyone working in a bar (on 'salary') will have a monthly quota of Drinks and Bar Fines
- There is some status attached to getting Lady Drinks - customer prefers me to you syndrome
- If Mamasan catches you 'Tipping' having NOT bought the lady a drink then she may take the tip
- I reckon on buying the LB a drink for her company - and NOT buying a drink as a message that I do NOT want her company.
- I know at least one bar where the BF reduces if you have paid for 2 Lady Drinks.

One scam I hate is that when I have paid a BF then as far as I am concerned she is NOT working. She is now a customer, just as I am, so should be able to drink what she likes and at normal customer prices - the bar is still making a profit.

I know of a few BMs who have Bar Fined a lady, in one bar, and then, at her request, moved onto another bar which happens to be owned by the same people. Her drinks are then charged at Lady Drink prices.

Lady Drinks are normally between 100 and 150 baht each - a beer is normally 70 to 120.
The LB gets 30 to 50 baht commission on ladydrinks.
She does not get commission on normal drinks and those drinks do not contribute to her quota.

There is no 'black and white' re buying/not buying lady drinks but remember that the bars only exist if they are profitable. We all like the bars as it is an easy way to meet.
Profit on lady drink is 70 to 100 baht. Profit on beer 40 to 90.
