Jakarta - assistance for a possible expat

Gentlemen,

Given the vast array or knowledge on this forum, I though someone may be able to help.

The booss wants me to go to Jakarta as an expat, never been there but been to many other Asian ports.

Can you chaps who have been recent visitors or expats let me know the story, safety, is it as "bad" as the Govt. travel arerts say, good places to live close to city, language etc.

Any help appreciated and any directions to expat forums or good web sites.
