Getting the other side of the story is not an option is it in reality. Even if a BM put this up you will rarely get both sides. Its not that unlikely anyway and im surprised we dont hear more horror stories.

I can think of a few that have gone un reported and true.

Seeing as no naming and shaming has happened i agree its all conjecture but harmless at that. If theres a loony on the loose i want to know about it

Pretty graphic photos of the stabbing. I recall the guy said "she/he" at one point, not just "he". And, Stick is NOT a vehement LB basher.

reading this with interest,had my "times" with p4p girls GG and LB.....who hasnt.
its not an easy one to handle at the time,easy to be judgemental here on a forum.
there are various routes you can take,i faced up 4 thais one night but then im fairly fit and confident,and somehow its still not the best thing to do.

however often there are the warning signs in a potential barfine/pickup that mayby you choose to ignore,i do believe its the case allmost allways............and was for the poster here it seems.
take notice of those signs, does the barfine have that feelgood factor? check out her eyes,general behaviour,it dosnt take too much effort.............if it feels wrong it probably is.........go get another theres one on the feckin corner.
sometimes yes to pay your way out is the best way,just try and avoid it in the first place.

If you're only getting threats by a knife wielding loon why on earth
would you think self preservation involves trying to take them out first?
It's a bit unwise to antagonize further a person like that,it's exactly what
happened to this guy (if the story is true) and he ends up with a $500
hospital bill...

Not a question of a newbie mistake or not.Could happen to anyone.

Its very hard to handle such a situation.Been into one myself last month in Pattaya.Thank god there was no knife involved.I could manage to kick her out of my apartment before she cud further damage.At the end i didnt pay what she demanded although she smashed a whole in my door which costed me 1000THB more.But u just cant tolerate these trys.

Thats how Thailand got.I give them 5 more years then the tourism will be at its end cuz of their greed for money.Cambodia,Vietnam and Laos already offer much more value for your money.

Police is useless and can cause u even more problems.

That sounds like good advice .

Not much point people saying what they would do or blaming the guy for getting himself into the situation , truth is we can all sometimes get into potentially dangerous situations that you might not see coming .

The key is to get yourself out unscathed , wether that means paying the money , doing a runner , telling her a joke or knocking her spark out .

You only have a split second to make that call so do whatever it takes to keep yourself right .

I have sympathy for the guy , someone pulling a knife on you isn't nice , but it was a stupid thing to do slapping a Thai on the head and throwing the money on the ground in an already volitile situation , you need to get out of there fast not insult them .

Thankfully these things don't happen too often , but there are a few nutters about .

The REASON why it's stupid may not be clear to a first time or infrequent visitor.

Never touch a another persons head. Reason: The head is "sacred". Someone else may have a better explanation.

Never throw money on the ground. Reason: It is disrespectful to the Thai King who all Thais love/respect is on the money, so therefore you are disrespecting the King...

Why would a "westerner" know either of these things? So a disaster waiting to happen either through ignorance of custom or by design if the guy knew these things, which he probably did not..
