I know one cam girl from the PI who was making 20,000 pesos a month working from home -a lot of girls work in studios which means paying costs to someone in a less safe environment (police raids etc). 20,000 at the moment is about £280, rents in the PI are cheap but I also know of one other who has built a small house on the proceeds but may also have a bf who helped her. In addition some of these girls get extras in the form of online gifts that you can buy, money transfers from WU and, maybe meeting one of the customers, falling in love, getting that visa etc etc. On the other hand a lot of girls, mostly the femboy types seem to spend hours doing nothing, and its noticeable that girls who had no customers are always in pvt once they get their breasts etc etc.

Ultimately nothing can substitute for the real thing -best thing is to use a cam show to get to know someone and then make your move if thats what you want.

Bill520's insights were eye-opening, that's for sure.....so unless you have already established yourself in the game for a few years like May or Natasha or Areeya it seems it's going to be extremely hard to make a decent living at it. The glut of webcam operations and the sheer number of girls doing it means finding customers is harder than ever these days.

Too bad, as there WAS a time when it was a good alternative to hooking but it seems those days may have come and gone, thanks for the fresh stats Bill.

I've been a customer of several webcam girls for years now and still have contacts with several who work at different sites. I've even assisted them to get approved for studios so they can make a higher percentage and even employ other performers if they like. However, the majority of performers do not make very much and competition is difficult and customers are few and far between these days. More are turning to sites like cam4 and other free cam sites where they can solicit paid shows. I've assisted with paypal transactions for a few of my friends who have taken that route.

Perhaps for the well-known ones, it can be a good living. It is the exception, not the norm.

..the trouble with the P.I. cams are that most have slow feeds & poor video quality, that's why I'm floored when i see the euro honeys that hav HD cams that are so much clearer.. most P.I. cams look like old dubbed VHS videos; who wants to pay $2 a min. to watch a slow,jerky,fuzzy feed?
