Prices for flights to bkk!

Just started looking for flights for my feb. trip to BKK.  Wow!  Those fares are sky high!  Now I know that MANY people are canceling their trips due to the recent problems, so why the high fares?  Is it due to the massive amount of aid workers floodiing into the LOS, or is this simply the airlines gouging?  Someone let me know if they have found anything reasonable from the USA.  Thanks

Go to Mr Lonely's section of the forum and ask him for the contact info for his travel agent in San Diego. He is a very frugal guy, and he said that he has seldom found anyone to give him better fares. I think they are called Andy Travel, but not exactly sure.
Sometimes I have found good rates on Orbitz and sometimes, though less so, on Expedia. Travelocity is, IMO a waste of  time.
Gazzio, who I have not seen around here for a while, gave me the contact info for another good travel agent for Thailand, her name is Net Prung. She is a Thai lady in Whittier Ca. Her email is [email protected] and phone number is 562-945-0359. I got some good rates in the recent past from her, or I thought they were pretty good.

Northwest is out of control these days..... I am staying away from those fuckers until they drop their fares. China Air is the way to go now from the east coast of the USA and they have night flights from JFK.

I got a ticket last week from Texas round trip to BKK off of Expedia.com for 803$ some times you have to move the ds ariund alittle to get a good deal I move two days it went from 3600 to 803$

I've flown China Air three times. Flying on late Friday night, instead of late Saturday morning is a big plus for me, especially on a short trip. And the stewardesses are young and pretty unlike Western airlines! Having said that, I wish I had taken those three flights on United instead.

Having just flown twice on United, and getting lots of bonus miles for using their credit card. my upcoming trip is free. There's lots of other ways to rack up United/Star alliance miles. I'm still 4K mile short of a free trip on China Air and it's not easy to get those miles.

I love the asian based airlines because of the sexy outfits they make their flight attendants wear - - not like the granny's on the US carriers. Hell, most of those old bags practically need walkers just to get up and down the plane.

And yes, I notice no decrease in flight prices after the tsunami. Round trip fares from Los Angeles seem stuck at around $650. Bleh!

You might try SideStep; I found a good deal through them the last time I flew. (Philippine Air, not great but it got me there and back)

The only problem with SideStep is that you have to download the program and run it from your computer, so no browsing for flights at work.

February is the time when quite a few Vietnamese people are returning to celebrate the TET holiday with their families so the Airlines, particularly those near a large Vietnamese population are jacking up their prices. Since most flights from the West Coast make a stop in either Taipai or Hong Kong the Airlines know that leg of the flight will be crowded. After the TET holiday is over is the best time to find a good fare.
If you want to check a really good site try Mobissimo.com You type in your travel information and it will search all website, even those in foreign countries for the best fare. A list will pop up with the fares listed from low to highest. If you see one it will link you directly to that site. FYI, a lot of these sites are in Europe, Canada and Asia but will allow you to book with them and pay in U.S. dollars. I was turned on to this site last year and I have not been disapointed with the results.

Fresh from my shower, I stood in front of the mirror complaining to my husband that my breasts are too small. I just found flights from Texas to BKK via San Fran for $706!!!!  This fares were found on Eva Air.  The fare is available during the months of feb-apr for now.  

NWA and Continental are freakin stupid!  BASE FARES ARE $1304 FROM TX TO BKK!!!!  I repeat these are their LOWEST fares!  I asked a NWA representative "why all of a sudden have the fares gone up", the stupid lady from NWA said, "this has ALWAYS been or lowest fare ($1304)for BKK, you must have bought before during a special if you got it lower before"!  What kinda horseshit is that?  I have bought a ticket for $730-$805 over a dozen times before.  They must be gouging, thats all I can think of.

Maybe when Suvarnabhumi Airport opens later this year (planned opening sept 29) prices will go down!

Dawm right , typical north american fustrated female,looking and dressing like shit. Just wonder who is the uniform supplier for the US airlines perhaps the Salvation Army. Sometime I check the way the looks when I board a plane some of them look like they been splepping in their car. The Aian companies are far ahead in the selection od flight intendents.

I visited the Hi boss club on soi 6 last night not bad at all good selection of LB's and very friendly, I will provide more details to the Forum later on today.

Yeah ALL airlines in North America are making SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much money that they can defintiely afford to engage in price gouging!! Theres only 1 airline in the US of A that is making any money and they only fly 737's and DONT fly international!!!
BTW If everyone would be forced to quit their jobs if they are older, fatter and ugly then 99% of this board wouldnt have a FUCKING JOB!!! LOL!!! BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!
