Hi Wombatos,
As one who lives with a LB fulltime let me fill you in on their mysterious ways.
First and foremostly they eat. A lot. At anytime or place. 6-7 meals a day. How they remain slim is a mystery. Except they dont remain slim for long if they toss in the regular Thai/Issan diet and move onto western fare.
Secondly talking to the missus about it and she had no doubts that she was a girl from an early age... say 5-6 years old. She was encouraged by her grandmother, and not discouraged by her loving parents, so she is well adjusted. It is still regarded as shameful to have a ladyboy in the family: this can be mitigated by earning good money and looking after the family and doing good works in the name of the family. So they start off from a less than zero starting point.
Thirdly just because they want to be girls does not mean they all want GRS. (cock-lopping). Some are happy to be girls in all but function. Others feel the psychological need.
They do not go back to Issan (a point made by my learned collegue Jimslim) to plough the fields in sequins either: most have never performed manual work, as they have been "ladies" since an early age. Some may have, but would not likely be looking forward to returning to it.
YOur comment that they become Ladyboys because of peer or financial pressure is I believe mis-informed. It is a childhood awakening that often lasts a lifetime.
