I love it. Â It's one of the greatest things in the whole experience.
Beyond being exciting and educational, I don't know, I mean, she's taken you into her home. Â There's a certain intimacy in that . . .
I met Bobo, albeit late in the game. Â And I'm by no means the only one, but we met at a karaoke bar, and she serenaded me for a while, which already made my night. Â Shit, my vacation. Â And then she took me back to her place. Â Her having been one of my all-time fantasies, I couldn't help but be beside myself with glee at being in her room. Â Every time she went to the toilet the flash bulbs were lighting the place up like a disco. Â (no, sorry, I didn't ask and she didn't approve)
Nice place. Â But apparently like Joy's room: no table. Â So, I have photos that are eerily similar to Tommy's . . . Â
Of course, like most punters who have been to Thailand over the years I've been in a few LB's rooms, usually to pick up something she forgot or a change of clothes, etc.....never to stay over. Â And while it's understood that the ''good girls'' {IE the ones not blowing all their cash on Ice or stupid crap at the Emporium} send a large quantity back to Issan or Chiang Rai every month, I still can't help but thinking "you make 40K baht a month and live in THAT 3K shithole"? Â And with a roommate or 2?
I was talking about so-called  superstars, at least when the going was good at Cascades circa 2005-2006 and I would walk into the digs shared by {X} and {Y} out in Ramkhamheang. Both established stars on many websites, Y was particularly good at snagging 2-5 guys per night; that adds up!  All told she was easily making 50-60K a month and her roomie was 40 Plus...... and yet their room was a true craphole with a fan and cold water and not even a place to cook, etc.... you've seen the kind of place.
I mean, jeez ......for a simple 5K more their place would have been MUCH better! and closer to Nana, therefore saving on taxis and other shit.
Amenities don't mean much to them. Give them the choice of a mat on the floor or a king sized bed and they'll likely take the mat. They tend to like what they got used to growing up; food, music, living, etc. I've met many who simply do not like air conditioning, imagine that in this climate! If they have lots of money to spend, it usually is going to be on a nice phone, gold, and sending money back to the family.

I know a few in Ireland that are of the same mentality...but their kids are not :-)

I find that most Thai's are like that, they won't use A/C even if they could especially with the COLD {82-88 degrees!} weather coming up!
Good line about the cell phones; I have never paid more than 5K for the dozen or so I have bought over the years, and even got one for 2200 baht {new!} one time because I needed one for just a week or 3; that one worked fine BTW. But LB's need the best phone out there, with all the gadgets and with cameras which take shitty pics and earthquake-like videos, enough space to hold 5000 songs, etc ...... usually 10K minimum, but always as much as the falang is willing to fork out!
