Well, you can buy love here pretty easily. Pretty much every ladyboy has 1 thing in her mind - getting married to a farang (foreigner). And it is amazing how they show their love, when it's the escape from poverty they're really after. Like anyone, you need to spend a year with her to know the true story; and that is tricky. Or, take the chance and pay the price with a bet.

By the way, not to depress you, but I haven't heard of 1 happy story of a ladyboy going overseas. Every story I've heard is they get homesick and the relationship breaks up, and game over. And note that all ladyboy workers in Thailand are young (16-25 or so). Why? They don't quite look the same as they age, ie, they start to look more masculine, usually, though not always.

Ziggy knows of what he speaks...... many [most] of these girls want a western boyfriend that may eventually lead to marriage. Stogie is also right, where you absolutely MUST live in Thailand to carry on any type of relationship with these people. Long-distance deals do not cut it and they always fail, 100% of the time.

now for my 2 cents to add to these gentleman;

It's true that almost all ladyboys would love a western boyfriend, which may eventually lead to marriage in their fantasies. However, 100% of all ladyboys that I know will take a better offer when one is presented to them. So, basically you take the time to court and fall in love with a ladyboy, spend thousands on her and on her passports and visa's and finally get her to your western country {Americans, don't even bother, it's not possible in any scenario; Euro's have a better shot}. Now, do you really think she is going to hang around? You are in your late 30's or early 40's, your girlfriend is 22 and hotter than hell and can have any guy she wants in the town you live in, including Joe Schmo down the street with the Porsche and the bigger house; do you really think she is going to stay with you? Love? get real.....as our good friend Neay once said, "You can't eat love". Ziggy's problem with homesickness also comes into play here; even if they do love or like you, they will always want to get back to Paradise and see Mama and sis and uncle and the pet water buffalo, etc......

Stogie is correct; your only way to have a real relationship with a ladyboy is to live full-time in Thailand. This is the only realistic way, and can be done if you are willing and prepared to live there full-time. At that point if you want to bring her to Germany or Holland or whereever you live for a visit, [again, Americans just give it up] that would be the thing to do. But taking a fish out of water just so you can have some cute ladyboy to cuddle with and show off to your friends in Frozen Toe, Canada is really not a likely scenario. Living in Thailand, having her around cleaning the house and taking care of your sexual needs and cooking, etc, is the best way to go.

And, being even more cynical and relating back to Ziggy's post, what happens then after 4 or 5 years of that? When the ladyboy is now 27 or 28 and you realize there are 19-year old cuties down the street who look better and are probably more sexually active in bed than your betrothed, will you remain faithful to ladyboy number one? probably not....be honest.

the question of ladyboys and meaningful relationships has been brought up many times up here, oftentimes by myself. I have come to the conclusion that it is basically impossible or at least very very hard to have your cake and eat it too. The very few cases I have seen are a rarity, and the exception to the usual rule.
