October public holiday?

I see from another BKK site that there "might" be a public holiday in BKK on 23rd October, is this correct?

If so are the bars and places like Obsession likely to be closed too? If so for how long? Don't want my last couple of nights in BKK to be boring!

I believe this is the annual Ramuthaporn Festival you are probably talking about. Yes, everything closed.

It is a full week festival like the one in April when all the water gets thrown. Dates are 16th to 23rd October I think....might be a day or so off either side there, can't quite remember

Yep... Stewarts right on this. The place will be down for a week or so. Sucks seeing as how this is mainly tourists here. You may find one or two bars in the suburbs or off the main drag that are open.

Hi Stewart,

I get to BKK on the 9th October at 6am and leave for Manila on the 13th.

The rest of my itinerary is:

Bangkok17th - 20th
Singapore 20th - 22nd
Bangkok 22nd - 25th
London and home to Glasgow late night 25th.

Bastard*)! You had me there! I know that Eden is only closed on the 23rd! Why the hell do they have to close down bars on a bloody holiday, it doesn't make any sense to me! Here the bars are full on holidays!

October 23rd is Chulalongkorn Day. One day as far as I know, and bars not closed (been here 13 years - never been any different). Having said that, this IS Thailand.
