What it was like before Boxing day!

Well - I don't think that even my most optomistic spirits are going to let me believe that Cocktails & Dreams is going to be back anytime soon.

I imagine the girls are already headed out to Bangkok and Pattaya. It's unlikely that even if the place was insured the insurance companies will cough up anything for an "act of God!"

I never did go, but it was nice knowing it was there. Good luck to Nick for the future. I wonder what his thoughts are today!

Talked to Mickey an hour ago.....he said he walked all around Patong and it was a dump, but basically C&D was not in bad shape and will be up and running in a few days. Basically some mud and just needs some cleaning out. Soi Kathoey will take much longer, as evidenced in that pic that someone posted in the "tidal wave hits phuket" thread.

While not wanting to appear to making light of a tragic situation - has anyone else seen the Billy Connolly film - "The Man Who Sued God!"

Its a comedy about a man whose fishing boat is destroyed by lightning, and the insurance company refuses to pay-out saying it was an "act of god". So he decides to sue God's respresentatives on earth - the major churches of the world. They start off by saying its nothing to do with them but they are then challenged as to whether or not they do indeed represent God - which of course they have to say yes.......And so the churches turn on the Insurance companies saying they cannot blame God for the natural disasters.......... A brilliant film - well worth seeing

On a more serious note I'm sitting here with mixed feelings today, I should have been flying out to Thailand today for a 19 day holiday, and was going to Phuket next Monday. I was going to be staying at Nick's apartments in Patong. However, instead, I am having to work and so had to cancel. Yesterday I was dejected at the thought of not being able to go on holiday, but today, while my thoughts are with those caught up in todays event, I have to admit I'm glad I'm not going out there now.  I'm currently planning to go in May ....work permitting

Now to close this post I'm going to have a rant.....

Removed - this is not the place to moan

        Apologies for the rant

didn't sound like a rant to me....... you will be better off going in May in any case, when all this is over.
