What a Thai Ladyboy makes in Singapore

I had a chat with a Thai ladyboy in Club Romeo today and, in the course of the conversation, asked her how much she typically makes in a one month trip to Singapore. She said that she typically makes about S$4,000 - about 94,000 Thai Baht at current exchange rates. This is what she goes home to Thailand with after covering all the expenses of travelling to and living in Singapore. Pretty good! I don't think there are too many ladyboys making that much in Bangkok, Pattaya or Phuket. No wonder the ones who do well here - like the girl I talked to - end up coming back often.

I'd be a bit skeptical about what they tell you. It ain't all that great in Singapore for the LBs. It's certainly not as lucrative as it was in the past.

But if she is, then good luck to her. I'll bet she earns it!

Actually, the number is quite believable. A ladyboy could easily earn S$200 a day - one short time (S$150-200) plus a few lady drinks, which earn them a commission of S$5 per drink would do it. If they average S$200 a day, that is S$6,000 in a month in total earnings.

And they keep costs low, for example with three of them typically sharing a hotel room so a total cost number of S$2,000 for a month is achievable.

Netting S$4,000 in a month is doable if they average one short time a day, which the ones who come back do. The ones who don't average at least one customer a day typically do not return - not worth it!

For starters, they have to speak at least a smattering of English. It is too intimidating if they aren't able to communicate a little. Most of the LBs in Orchard Towers speak reasonably good English.

They tend to be more 'passable' too. Only a few Amazons in Crazy Horse. The punters in Singapore definitely don't want to be seen walking down Orchard Road with an obvious LB going to their hotel room.
And I guess its not impossible for them to get 1 ST per day, but very improbable. The market is not that big in Singapore. Its quiet on the weekdays, they may be lucky to get 1 every other day. They may make it up on weekends with multiple STs. Who knows?
I've hung out in Romeo's from 9pm (the time they come to work) to closing on a number of occasions and many of the girls don't even score a ladydrink, let alone ST. But, they must do ok in the end because I see them coming back again and again. Even if they made SGD2,000 (THB46,000) after expenses, its still 'superstar' pay back in LOS.

It has to be noted that the Thai ladyboys don't work 12 months in a year. They usually get a one month visa when they first come in. Then they try and get another month extension on the net. They go back for one month and then come back for another shot. Where it all goes wrong is when they fail to get an extension and have to go back. On average they're lucky to work in Singapore for 7 to 8 months in a year.

In response to guydesavoy, it's not that straight forward for a Thai ladyboy to try her hand at either bar in Orchard Towers. They have to get in touch with the mamasan in Thailand that supplies the "labour" to the bars. They have a kind of a timetable where the question of accommodation and number of ladyboys here at any one time is looked into. They can't just march in to either bar and ask to work.

Lastly pete and langchai observations are about right, at the end of the day about S$2,000 seems to be the average.

All that makes sense. So the income range would seem to be S$2,000-4,000 or Thai Baht 47,000-94,000. Not bad at all, and definitely more than most of them would be making in the Land of Smiles!
