Which reminds me of an interesting news article over the weekend.  Iran claims to have cloned a goat.  When one, Dolly, was cloned in scotland a few years back, the resulting jokes were legion.  Does that mean that Iran's activity is old hat or that we just do not want to go there.

On to the retort called for a few posts ago.  There are so many good things to say about filipinos.  The problem is that in most of the rather cold and distant other cultures-yes, Indonesia, Thailand and China-much of this is taken as being money-grubbing.  The real issue is that it is a token of esteem/affection.  If you cannot part with $20 for a bottle of perfume then rethink your role in this economic circle.  BTW, do NOT give perfume to Indonesians, it is verboten.

Yeah..where did you get that? I have friend in Indo (gg) and she loves to get perfume!! Do you mean for LBs??? I never heard that before - and I've been to Jakarta a bunch of times...

In response:

1. Do not confuse gifts with money...sure, money can be a gift but I was discussing them asking for money. I always get them gifts when I visit the PI but I hate it when they ask you to get them a gift for their birthday. The ONLY culture I have seen do this on a consistent basis.

2. In response to Stewart and Thai girls and ladyboys. NOT ONCE have I had a Thai girl or Thai ladyboy ask for money within the first month of discussions(very common in PI) and rarely do they ask for money even after knowing them for years. NOT ONCE have I had a Thai girl or lb ask me to get them a gift for their birthday. Get this...I speak FLUENT THAI so the English argument doesnt work with me. Been to Thailand 23 times and Philippines 19 times.

3. Further response to Stewart. If you have sex with the girl/lb, then you owe them a gift or money. If you are chatting with them online, YOU OWE THEM NOTHING. Its not generous to give girls money for chatting(not naked)...IT'S STUPID.

As for why I still go to the PI. Beautiful beaches(Cebu, Boracay, Bohol) and fun girls who I love to find, fuck and then flee when they start asking for money or want to get serious.

Believe what you want Seven....I am telling the truth and I dont look anywhere near a hippie or backpacker...few guys on this board have met me and can back up my claim that I speak Thai fairly well. When you talk about Thai lb's...are you referring to pay4play lb's...or lb's from the province? When you talk about PI lb's, are they from the province or are they escorts living in Makati or Cebu? I know some PI lb's who never ask me for money because they are financial secure in their own right. I also know some PI lb's who are from the province, came to the city to try to earn a living for themselves and have difficulties from time to time earning enough online to make it. Then there are those scam artist lb's who live in the province and put their pics on meetladyboy.com or mythailadyboy.com with the express purpose to attract guys who will just send them money.

I don't think that you can generalize the issue.

I have 'chatted' to a nice young thing in PI I met on Dragoncastle.. On 2 occasions I have sent 2000 pesos (about $40 US) so didn't exactly break my bank. But both times made a big difference to her daily existence.

This was never asked for nor expected. Neither was it in exchange for sex or nudity. I liked her, I sussed her out, and I'm not stupid.

Worst case scenario ? I got ripped off.

And some of us HAVE been to the Philippines for more than just bars/escorts. And 40 bucks will definitely make a difference to many, many people in that country.
