As usual Teflon-Alan, you think your so slick that nothing sticks to you.

As usual Alan, you miss the point and I will not waste my time trying to explain it to you. Ramble on.....

The difficulty with this topic is it invites either/or comparisons which merely perpetuate the myths; the truth is more subtle and complex than can be discussed here, and yes it may have something to do with colonial rule having passed Thailand by whereas the Philippines had a double dose -Spanish and American, and never had a monarchy or indeed a unifying power that was indigenous and accepted by all. Vietnam has had a more complex history in and out of the orbit of China, and one of the nicest girls I ever met (in the US) was from Vietnam. I once loved a girl from Spain, and was physically attacked by another, also from Spain -being Spanish was not the cause.

The reality is that being either Thai or Filipino does not determine how a girl behaves, I have had sex with both and sometimes it was good and sometimes it was not, the self-affirming fantasy that a lot of the girls live with is probably generated by their sexuality and individual psychology than by being born in Isaan or Pampagna.

If being a good Christian was the criterion, what on earth should we make of the people who live in Northern Ireland during the troubles or last week? -it is just as flimsy as suggesting that because the worst terrorist outrages of recent years were perpetrated by Muslims that is what they are like everywhere all the time.

Lucky Plaza is truly awful, and in Singapore of all places! But you can eat well in the PI, after all, if fish is recently caught and cooked you have to be a complete tit to get it wrong; Lechon in Cebu at its best is non pareil but I also had some that was mediocre, so I guess the Philippines is not so different from most places, and anyway I am told as the food in Thailand is better than the Philippines, in Vietnam it is better than anywhere else including Thailand -I have had great meals in Beijing and some so drowned in that bean sauce or whatever they call it I couldn't eat it. There is a Filipino restaurant off the Tottenham Court rd in London, hardly a ghetto.

But lets face it if you are in Europe you dont make a point of going to Ireland for the food (draught Guinness is the closest you can get to a national dish anyway), and the best food in Amsterdam is Indonesian, and I have never yet been through Italy without someone trying to rip me off...

I fear that if the girls we are interested in are so 'venal', 'dishonest', 'unfaithful', 'hypocrites' etc, it is because they have spent their short lives with men who were not so different, and they weren't all born in either Thailand or the Philippines...

            Excellent post, DexterH

Someday maybe you can introduce me to someone from
            Pampagna
            .

Until then, I will have to cherish my memories from:
            Pampanga.

A considered post DH but, next time you're in Ireland (don't let a handful of phsychopathic murderers put you off), get your ass to the beautiful village of Terryglass in Tipperary on the banks of Lough Derg on the River Shannon and try the bacon and cabbage with creamy shallot sauce in the Derg Inn...yummy !

as jaidee said this topic has been exhausted for years now..

there is no comparison...FIlipinas have a look to them that's distinct and the Thais also have a unique look to them...

it's a matter of taste and expectations...

Perhaps those of you who think Thais are better-looking than those from the Philippines is because you subscribe to the concept of an ideal Asian girl as the Oriental type (maybe petite, chinky-eyed, meek and smooth). Unlike Thailand (never been conquered), our country has been raped, literally and figuratively, by several colonizers since any historian can remember. Thus, there is heavy influence of Latin, European and Arabic features (thats why they seem bigger, hairier, taller and with diva-esque attitude) mixed with the original Malay ancestry. Surely, this just makes us different and not in any way less beautiful than our Thai sisters.

So to answer your concern marathon, I agree with alan1chef that its all about apples and oranges. It just depends on what youre looking for - the slightly Hispanic Filipina or the pure Oriental Thai.

(I do not shave between my shoulders.  Additionally, I do not have a problem with lady "having hair".)
Most important, that a lady have good heart.
(Statuesque, can you please send me 50 pesos, so I can buy some tuba ?)

(tuba is the name of the cheapest "moonshine", in rural areas in Phils. Produced by fermentation, without "stills" (?).

You tell me , what do you make of us

The actions of a couple of madmen have nothing to do with decent people , I assume you saw the thousands of people who took to the streets in protest at the murders , strange you failed to mention that .
