i agree...but before i went to los for the 1st time -old stickman had me terrified about ladyboys.
Saying that they were all robbing pick-pockets....

Stickman and Khun Sanuk go back a bit in contemporary BKK history, but not far enough.  These guys are opportunists who approached the whole scene at the same time the internet kicked-in, there timing was right, but they soon became arrogant "authorities" with a narrow minded perspectives.  They cultivated synchophants and started to preach the "truth" about Thailand's nightlife.  But to select only horror stories about Katoey reveals their frat boy outlook and cliquey behavior.  They never go deep enough to see the truth of what they so freely talk about.  Superficial quasi-journalists exist in the sea of ignorance.

Actually, Steve has frequently said, both publicly and privately, that the book isn't fiction at all, and I do know that he's told Stickman that in particular. Rather, Steve says the book is substantially autobiographical. That seems downright humiliating for him, if you ask me, but since he's obviously not embarrassed about telling everybody all that really happened to him, who am I to call it humiliating?

Are you always so literally minded, man? What I said was that Steve had always been outspoken with everyone he knows that most of the events he turned into that novel actually happened to him. The writing of the novel was clearly the completion of what he saw as his revenge on the girl in question and therefore contained more than a dollop of fantasy, although to my mind it also made him look like a right twat. Each to his own, I guess.

Ladyboys come off better in his article than I thought they would. I expected him to slag ladyboys a lot more. I mean shit, there's a lot of ammunition in the cannon if you want to talk ladyboys, but his article (while totally off mark) didn't really scathe LBs as bad as he could have.

How is steven these days? i do remember his story or part of it being published in some magazine, way back in the 3 early 90.s

Where do I start? Stickman is a pompous twat. Now he is all high and mighty writing against p4p, but it is only because his Thai wife has his balls in a box and also reads what he writes.  For a guy that is so 'faithful", he sure spends a lot of time doing "research" in Pattaya.  Some day, I will see him come out of a ST hotel with Moo and I will laugh my ass off.  

My pet peeve is intolerant people, and Stickman takes the fucking cake on intolerance.  He doesn't like Thai people, he has no respect for Issaan and for a guy who has been in Thailand for a long time, he views things here very narrowmindedly.
