Ladyboy Years and Ladyboy Time

Hope this is the appropriate place for this one (hell, my Lube thread got moved to Academia, and although I appreciated the compliment, I didn't think it was all that high-brow   )

Anyway as I sit here waiting for my LB to arrive by taxi, at 10:36 when she promised 10, so I could faaarking eat already...and when I call her 35 minutes ago and she says 15 minutes...(still counting...) it led me to ponder the question of Ladyboy time..

What is a western minute in LB terms ? And, please excuse the reference, in terms of age, what is a LB year in western years like dog years vs human years? i.e a 28 yr old LB is how old ??

I learnt a long time ago that there is Western time and then there is Thai time.    Very occasionally one shocks me by turning up on time.
Has she arrived yet ?

Thais are definately not governed by time as Westerners are.

It's something that at first I found infuriating, then I learned to tolerate it and soon after that I eventually adopted their way!

The only way to get them to turn up on time is to tell them you are going to another ladyboy bar to pass the time while you wait .

Believe me they always turn up double quick after that

Cultivating the image of a potential butterfly will improve ladyboy time. Age 28 is about age 16 in maturity. Thais are better than Philippinos in most ways including time.

ah the clash of cultures...but as I reflect over yet another Scotch (she's sleeping now) and no food yet (please don't make me venture out into soi 4   ) i am beginning to put the jagged pieces together and see some perspective...frustrating at first as Stogie comments, but strangely liberating when you just let it flow

Nor only do they have their own weird sense of timing but many years ago they used to have two official times - Government time and Railway time

When I worked there in the early 80's it used to drive me crazy.

Look at it this way: there is a well-known and long established Filipina escort in London who has been 22 for at least 7 seven years; another well known Filipino escort in Asia who is in her early 30s has been 22 for...roughly 5 years, maybe 22 is a magic number. As for making appointments, whether it is home or abroad, I think Filipinas begin to get ready an hour after they were due to meet you. So, if you plan an evening dinner date, arrange to meet at 5pm and book the restaurant for 9, you may just make it.

It's not just the Thai's who have a different sense of time - being a banana (Canadian born Chinese), yellow on the outside, white on the inside, I have a typical western sense of time for meetings appointments, etc. Show up on time or a bit early.

However, when traveling through Asia - China, HK, Malaysia, Bali, Thailand, Cambodia - there doesn't seem to be the sense of importance to be "on time". Having worked in the Arabian Gulf countries, the same holds true there too.

As for actual age of lbs, I agree with pentire! In any culture/country, you will encounter people who are mature, or immature and I don't think Thailand has a monopoly on that.

ITs all about face saving, they will tell you 10 minutes because its what they think you want to hear, they could still be in a taxi or just out of the shower.

Perhaps one could add, that western time is continous and Thai time is depending on conditions.

There's no doubt they live on a different time-scale here. I guees the same goes in Mexico too.

As for maturity, someone once said that Thailand is run by a bunch of teenagers. It does seem that some LBs I've met have a different way of processing information and difficulty dealing with situations in a clearly thought out way... Or at least the way we would see it and therein lies the answer I guess.

Are we pretending that this sort of problem doesn't exist in the West? I've never had any Thai be late for an appointment by more than half an hour and with Bangkok's notoriously bad traffic, I can't say I would blame anyone for not being able to be spot on time. I've had worse experiences in the US by far. I guess if its done in Thailand its called rude but in New York it's "fashionably late"...
