Street photography...

Not sure if this belongs here, so feel free to move it or tell me to start this topic elsewhere...I'm a semi-pro photog and want to start getting shots of two things:

First--candid and artsy shots of lbs, not just in the bedroom per se, but in daily life

Second--street shots of ggs and lbs in patts, mostly freelancers on beach rd and walking street, again candids

The first I can do with some LBs that I've spent time with and built up some trust beyond the night's barfine. How can I pull off the second without pissing people off and getting my ass kicked?

Any suggestions? Better yet anyone else into photography want to meet for a few and discuss it?

It's a good question, this...

Usually you'll get all the 'posed' shots you need just by handing out 100 baht notes... Once you have got them to pose for the 'tourist' type pics and have sweetened their demeanor they'll quickly get used to you and you'll have no trouble getting all the candid shots you want.

Basically flash a little cash, buy a beer or two and snap away!

Take a few nice shots of them, get them printed in Photoexpress (real cheap) and lgive them to them, if you do the Loom pics after this it will be easy but reassure them they are for you to remember them and not for internet use...............

i  just walked around in chatuchak market and other places snapping away i used my 18-200 vr lens and just stood around snapping.plenty of smiing faces when i was caught lol

Good advice guys, especially yours Stogie thanks, keep it coming.

Did a similar round of carpetbombing with my Nikon in chatucha as well, and will certainly hit it again, however, it's difficult to get isolated shots and also just doesn't have the same quality as working girls, which is really what I'm interested in documenting.

Any more thoughts?

If anyone wants to talk shop I'll be in BKK Jan 17 and 18, then off to dive for a week, then in Patts for a week and back up to BKK. Hope to meet some of you then.

Try some of the salons in and around Nana Plaza from about 6pm onwards. You'll get some priceless shots there... but once again... pay for a few posed shots and get chatty! Make up something glamorous, too, like you're working for a London magazine...

...hmmm, reminds me of the time I walked by a salon there in BKK & a sexy GG was standing in the doorway, we started talking & i asked her if i could take some video of her & ended up getting a pedicure while shooting the video, & no she didn't take any clothes off, that's the only way she would let me do it!  So how many members here have taken a video while getting a pedicure?!!     (well who would want to admit it anyway!)
