Anyone care to post the exact details of the Thai holiday next weekend, and when the bars will be open or closed?

No clue. All I know (or think I know) at the moment is that Silom Street will be closed to traffic on the 23rd.
I think this is more of a Hindu holiday than a Buddhist holiday, BUT these days any exscuse to close a bar is used.

It is Chulalongkorn Day on Saturday so Monday is a transfer holiday....
so by rights the bars will be closed on Saturday 23rd for the actual day and then open Sunday and Monday for the holiday.
Not Gospel but should be right...
Can still get a drink at Soi 7 on the Saturday...Comment

And for those traveling in December the Bars will be closed on Sunday December 5th, Kings Birthday...

Does anybody know if the bars in Phuket or Pattaya also will be closed next weekend? Is it everywhere in Thailand the same?

It should be stressed that these funny rules only apply to cities and places where lots of people want to actually have fun!
Every normal Thai and his soi dog will be drinking Chang alongside his local boys in brown as usual!

Very Strange Indeed.
A correction to my earlier post, the 23rd is a National Holiday commemorating King Rama V
AND it is a Hindu holiday celebrating the end of 'eat your vegetables week'.
