I totally disagree with those who think that as this is a "taboo" subject, that the potential sales market is too small.

This will work very well as airline fodder with the right title, clever cover design & marketed the way they sell tabloid newspapers.

As the "real story" of the secret world of Thailand's "beautiful & mysterious" 3rd sex, written first hand by those who know it from inside the belly of the beast,

this book, done right will sell its arse off.

Right round the world, this is a subject whose time has arrived. Ten years ago there may have been the "awkward" factor about picking up a book on the subject.

    Not now!

With a pseudo-serious cover, with the promise of sufficient tittilation inside with racy blurb on the back cover (where the decision is made to purchase), suggestive chapter headlines, a few stunning photos, just enough to "stiffen" the interest,

I cannot see this book failing.

Make it volume one with the news that more are on the way.

I would happily be involved in such a publishing exercise, I have rarely seen such an obvious fit with sales at airports & bored travellers.

My apologies to manarak but I couldn't disagree with you more.
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

would published members get free copies?

i see the book as a soft-back with a hard cover
and on that hardening cover a photo of Passy (or a ladyboy of comparably incomparable passability) with the one word:
        "Guess!"

the in-jokes alone would make it a must-have for every educated whoremonger's bookshelf.
        i say go for it.

Seems to me that the easiest way to write a book is to use the words that you've already written.   So go for it.

I've read less than 50% of the books I've bought and suspect the same is true for most of you.

I don't get pleasure from having a library but know most of you do.

so you don't call those porn vids a 'library' just because they're hidden away on your hard drive?

              Interesting idea.

Definitely include some trip reports, and of course a quick run down of local establishments to visit
and a few ladyboy friendly hotels to boot.

Would it sell? I'm not really sure, mainly because most who buys it gonna feel awkward telling people about it. Could just be a niche market, and really is it worth the money and risk for the small potential reward? I sure quite a few BM will be interested but apart from that, i disagree with pacman and can't see it being a widespread success.

Some good posts so far and I'm taking all this info in.

I may run off an initial vanity pressing of between 50 and 100 and let them go via the forum to get feedback for the next edition...

                Any ideas for a title?

                I currently like...

I think thaibound has an excellent idea with passable ladyboy and the title guess. Enough to get you interested but not enough to cause concern, cocks in frocks would be a crap title and a non seller. Not that you would publish a book called that
Also guess bar would have free publicity.

I have looked a bit into self publishing in the past, which can be done on-line, but a few pre-orders would be needed to cover costs with this, unless you were prepared to foot the bill up front on the assumption of sales!

Although a small market, you have a lot of board members here, plus a lot of lurkers ,so that should give you a headstart, with at least moving some books.

On line and thai bookshops is probably a good starting point! You often find books aimed at farang or sex tourists in thai bookshops-stephen leather type books!

A good selling point would be the inclusion of a small travel section, bars, areas and the like with out going overboard.

I have often thought why has someone not done a sex guide book for thailand- south east asia.
I know this is difficult ground to cover with bars closing over night, new ones opening. but there is a lot more ground that could be covered.

I would buy a copy in thailand and probably have to leave it there after reading! As my personal circumstances just wouldn't allow me too bring it home, it's a sale though!

Good luck if you do go through with this!

I think Dustin Hoffman to play Kahuna in the Movie !

Roger Moore to play TT Chang

                      Colin Farrell to play SlimJim

                      Mardhi played by Johnny Depp

                      Mel Gibson as Monkeyman

Now I'm having a hard time thinking of someone to play Stogie, any suggestions !

Everyone is free to disagree with me. Mine is only one opinion after all, but I am surprised by those who feel this subject matter makes it too risky for people to buy.

                            Not in my experience.

I see the book being presented the same as it is here on the forum (with irrelevant stuff edited out) making it easy to pick it up at random & read a thread or two.

Just like the Readers Digest, a sister publication we have so much in common with...

stogie,if you write up the trip reports, then i have one suggestion, find all of the late rob69in's trip reports and put them in one chapter, i think it would be a fitting tribute to one of the original lb hunters.

if you were going to design a soft cover please consider large print as it is easier to read and if you have ever been on a bus or plane at night you know those overhead lights are crap at lighting up a book to read.

the book should contain different things like a chapter on rules and things you do and not to do when meeting a lb for the first time, trip reports, including the ones for bkk, pattaya, sinapore, phuket and any others that would be useful to travellers.

I think that a few well thought about photo should be included (no naked ones) but maybe a suggestion of one, and you should include your daily rant stogie , i always get a laugh out of what you rant about somedays

hold me a copy, i would buy it and leave it on the coffee table at home and see what kind of conversation would it bring up.

                                thanks sean
