Thanks for the heads up, moonwalkermoon. I was toying with the idea of joining that site but I definitely won't now. The whole point (for me, anyway) of pay porn sites is to get access to videos that you can then download, save and watch at your leisure.

That€™s the thing why it€™s pointless using DRM protected videos on a website€¦ you€™ll only going to piss off the paying members who€™ll not stick around very long and will NEVER rejoin that site again. As for those 'hackers' that want to copy and bit torrent the movies they still will by using a program like Snagit that can capture the video right off of your screen.

Well known porn star Jenna Jameson did the DRM thing to her site€¦ he€™s sales went way down and they got rid of it just as fast.

I hope our friends from the exotic gold group see this thread, it shows that people don't like that DRM stuff {I had never even heard of it until now} and it could be very problematic if their other websites adopt this practice.

I think it's a bad idea because it taints all their sites and not just one. They have a lot to lose by getting on the wrong side of posters on anonymous chat rooms and message boards.

We support these sites and I like the guys that run those pay sites and I was a bit unsure why we should have this thread on our forum, but it's an interesting situation for both customers and punters.

Can't wait to see how all this pans out...

On a side note, while the use of DRM is extremely irritating for users, I do see the problem on the publishers' side.

Today, we have an internet where people are almost anonymous, and when they can get identified, most of the time, they cannot be prosecuted, except my film and music majors because they are everywhere.
But can a us/australian/canadian/etc. porn company successfully sue a german user and provide evidence that will be accepted by a court in another country?

That's one part of the problem.

The other is that content can be freely copied and sent over the internet.

So today, porn publishers can only use DRM to protect their content.


Another question is if porn really is threatened by piracy?
As far as music and movies are concerned, a lot of people are interested in sharing them, so that tools are made widely available, and a lot of people learn how to get them from the net.
But porn?

Are there as much people interested in porn than in the latest fad of britney spears? And more importantly, will they go similar lengths to get and share the content?

I think not. I think there is a limited population on the net that gets any porn it wants through P2P and password trading, while the vast majority of porn subscribers barely know how to use email.

I see it everyday on my sites, the best payers are people who write all caps or those who begin a new thread when in fact they wanted to post a reply to another post. Often they also write emails with the title "problem" and stating "it doesn't work" as a description of their problem...

So, I think DRM after all is not worth it.

So I dont break any Law...´

Only photographers have a right on there photos...but I don´t know one who will say in front of a judge...that he do xxx pics in Thailand....
The german police give all infos to the Thai embassy.....

It doesn't do the job. It records everything that happens on the screen except the video itself.

I think it is intended for creating tutorials and stuff.

moonwalkermoon...its always worked fine for me. Once you go into 'capture' (and you're in video mode), all you have to do is drag your mouse over the area you want captured, then press start when the box comes up
